Looks like it's over for us
« on: November 06, 2007, 02:31:12 AM »
The riding season, that is....  We have 3" of the white stuff with a layer of ice underneath and more snow to come on Friday. Did get a lot of riding in though on sat. getting out in November is a rarity here in Alberta. Should go take a look at those Ural rigs......

Yup,.. Us too.  The snow is mostly gone, but there's a bit of black ice here and there.  Besides that, it's fricking cold!!

The bikes got winterized this weekend.  It was a sad day when the batteries came inside.

I was poised for flurries this morning.. but it stayed warm. Forecast calls for flurries tomorrow, then bone dry all though to next week. Down to -5 on Saturday night though <Brrrr>

I was done on Oct 14th, insurance ran out. Really nice out today but only +2C, and I'm home sick with the flu...so, I'd love to ride, but winterizing the bikes, lawnmower, week waker, etc is underway.

Can only dream about next year, and plan for some winter mods...

One of the only times im thankful to live in the UK! Weather is still reasonable here and i'm still going strong.
Same as you guys though, Saturday was a nice day, and i had a lovely ride. Hoping that we have a reasonable winter again, i dont like it when it starts getting icy.
Still happy and safe riding to all who are still going, those that aren't enjoy the hols, get fit and fresh ready for the new season.  :beers:

You poor guys. :) Last weekend we hit 90 something degrees. Got up early and saw 68degrees up in the hills (colder outside of the valley). Great ride. Working on the road, can't wait to get back and put some more miles on her.

Ah James...that sounds a lot like a mid summer day in late July for most of us North of the border.

I guess that's why we all want to head south in the winter. You will likely be inundated with snowbirds this winter, with the high Can$.

Very cold this morning -- 5 degrees below. Had to brush some frost off the seat.
Bone dry roads though, and they've been very good at cleaning up the leaves in my neighbourhood...

Are you still riding, Barbarian?  Shoes still sticky enough?

I'm listening to sleet or freezing rain hit the window right now.  Thermometer says -0.9C,.. why does it feel so much worse?

I hope the weather holds fuel is high at the moment.
Glad to see posts from CWO4GUNNER again, missed the info he provided.

Just last Monday I was driving over the North Cascades Hwy and it was 26 up here in northern Washington.... 26F, that is.

A little later in the day (and warmer, ~46F), I spotted a Road King (or a clone) in the ditch and the top of the front fender was smashed in. No rider or other people were in sight and half-burned flares were out in the road. I figure he either encountered a deer or a rock fell off a cliff face. Passed a couple of LEO's and a tow truck heading that way a few miles later. Considering the remoteness and the fact there was no ambulance in the parade of emergency vehicles, I'm hoping the rider was not hurt very bad

Still riding, still smiling ;)

It's not like I'm out there trying to carve twisties or anything close to pushing the limit of my ride or myself -- I'm just commuting to work on the highways or city streets, taking care to avoid any puddles I see (usually in tunnels. Water drips from the ceiling), trying to avoid taking public transit for another week or two.

My gear's holding up very well. Fleece from MEC under my leather pants, GKS ganka gloves, a sweater under the winter liner in my leather jacket, and a neck warmer. A beard might be handy

My Bandit got TWO phone messages yesterday -- little brother offering the bike a spot in his girlfriend's barn, and father-in-law saying there's a spot in the garage behind his trailer. Since I see the in-laws more than I see my brother's girlfriend...

At least being in Texas has SOME benefits .... it will be in the 80's tomorrow so I'll put some miles on for those that can't! I know, I'm a hell of a guy making that sacrifice.
