From KRIS-TV:

CORPUS CHRISTI - Investigators said speed, a cell phone and an inexperienced motorcycle rider all contributed to fatal accident Sunday evening. It happened on the ramp to State Highway 44 off North Padre Island Drive.

Eyewitness said the motorcycle driver was speeding and talking on his cell phone, when he lost control of the bike and went into the guard rail. His bike stayed on the ramp, but his body landed on the service road below.

EMS crews took the man to the hospital, but he died on the way. Investigators said the man was inexperienced on a bike and did not have a motorcycle license.

I remember soon after they opened the 101 loop in Phoenix, a guy on a bike died on the overpass from I-10 East to 101 North.  I'm guessing that the guy was speeding and hit the guard rail.  The bike stayed, but he fell over the side.  I am guessing that he dropped a good 50 ft or so.

The one sticker they should put on new bikes is a warning that
"This is not a car.  Stupid stuff will kill you.  You need to devote 100% of your attention to ride this and survive."

What I wanna know is:  How can you speed and talk on a cellphone - on a bike at the same time, unless it has a gawd awful big windscreen.... ???

Maybe he thought he could fly.  :boohoo:

how can you even hear the ear piece let alone have the person on the other end of the line hear you past the wind noise on the crappy mic of a cell phone?  If eyewitnesses saw him on a cell phone, i'm assuing he was w/o a full face helmet and you would be able to see him holding a phone in his hand.

my phone stays off when i ride; if my ass hurts or I need more gas I might answer a voicemail when I pull over, but I doubt it. having too much fun riding to worry about a stupid cellphone.

I keep my phone on, just in case I were to ever need it quickly in an emergency. Talk on it while riding, I wouldn't even know how to even try that.
