What year gsxr shocks will fit my 03 1200s? Looking to do a cheap upgrade as the stock shock beats the crap out of me. Louisiana roads are pretty bad unlees they have been paved within the last 2 years. The bike gets jumpy and feels unplanted when I go into a corner with bumps and buckles. I've read of people installing GSXR shocks with great improvments to handling. I think I will give it a try.

The gsxr shocks are too lightweight for the heavy 1200 Bandit. Get a 'busa shock on ebay for $20-$50.

The evolution of the GSXR1100 Power in 1991 was 109.2@10000rpm, with torque of 67.2@7500. wet weight was 550.5lb's
98 Bandit "Weight: Dry - 471 lbs.
The 98 Bandit is lighter than the 91 GSXR 1100.
I use a GSXR shock, re-valved by Linderman, and it works just fine.

471 lbs is the dry weight for a Bandit 1200.

Dry mass for the 91GSXR 1100 is 503 lbs, and that is out of the Suzuki manual for 91

I also used a 1992 GSXR11 shock on my 1st gen B12. I had to hog out the lower clevis a little, but it worked great in stock condition. Spend the extra money on the fine aftermarket bits if you can't find a good used one, but the GSXR parts are fine.

I stand corrected. I didn't know you could still get an 1100 gixxer shock in decent condition.

I'll sell ya' a busa shock for $50 plus shipping. That's what I paid for it, and that was before I did my research and found out it would jack the rear of a 1st gen too much and has clearance issues. I think I am gonna hold out for a penske.

For a 2G, the Hayabusa shock is the better choice - unless you want to lower the bike. The GSXR 1100 shock is the preferred mod for a 1G.
(The 2G shock is 20mm longer than the 1G. The Busa shock is 10mm longer than the 2G.)
