Head lights on the "S"
« on: August 22, 2005, 07:17:29 PM »
Has anyone made any modifications to improve the head lights on their "S"? I want to upgrade mine to something quite a bit brighter but I don't know wich way to go. Just brighter lights or a whole new system?
I also notice that when making sharp turns the lighting won't reach to the corner and I can't see what is around the turn.
Any tips or ideas would be appreciated.

I can't believe that in over 19,000 years, they STILL haven't fixed the bugeyes!   :stickpoke:

Seriously... mine's obviously a totally different animal but Silverstars made a HUGE difference for me.   There have been other headlight threads for the 2G "S" models too.... running 2 highbeams, removing the difuser...

Beat me to it!!

That looks like a great mod, with a great write-up to go with it!
Ever noticed that they don't make helmets out of bone? There's a reason.

Dang! And here I was thinking the Bugeyed Bandit has really good lighting. Compared to all the other bikes I have owned, its spectacular.

I guess ignorance is bliss.

There's a company, Eastern Beaver, in Japan that makes H-4 headlight relay kits that markedly increase headlight brightness.

Their web site is <www.easternbeaver.com> and you'll be able to get lots of information about the various models they can fit.

I have one on my maked 2003 Bandit 1200 and the lights are noticeably brighter even with the stock bulb in place.  My friends have commented positively too and a couple are considering the kit, fairly priced at $49.95 including freight.  Had mine in just a few days, all the way from Japan.

The relay kit has you run a heavier duty wire from the battery to the relays which then send current on to the original headlight.  The kit is plug and play so to speak and is well thought out.  The relays, one for high beam and one for low are easily replaced should they ever fail -- they're socket mounted and available separately.

Just messin' around, Rob.  The Bandits have so much going for them, they're fantastic bikes.

I found that when I adjusted my Bandit headlights (raised low beam higher), it was 100% better.

An HID conversion would be sweet.
