Sorry to hear about this guy, but it almost makes me feel safer.  This was a series of very bad decisions, none of which I would do (drinking and riding, running from cops, popping wheelies on a busy road, wearing a pointles piece of crap helmet, passing on a blind corner, etc.)

People that do all the right things shouldn't suffer this fate...right?

Kinda sounds like he was inviting a pursuit by popping a wheelie in front of the cops. Too bad for his family. I have sympathy mostly for the kids.

I don't understand why anyone would run from a cop!  It is just stupid.  I have been stopped numerous times while speeding, and every time I pull over the instant the cop hits the lights.  And, most of the time the cop says "thanks for not running from me"!  The last one that said that, I asked if that many bikes run and he said "you have no idea".  And he let me go.  And I would say 90% of the times I have been stopped on my bike I have been let go.  And less than 10% in a car am I ever let go!

Sounds like a little chlorine was just added to the gene pool... but not before this guy reproduced 3x.

I'm sorry for his wife & kids, and the innocent cage drivers he involved.
No sympathy for him though. :duh:

I hope they catch the second rider who stopped, and took off before the cops show up.   He should be facing some serious stuff, also.

Rob, this is kind of your neck of the woods.  Hear anything?

No.  It's weird.  That's about an hour, maybe less, from me.  This kind of stuff always makes the local boards and I hadn't heard a peep.  I used to travel 501 a lot and have been up there on the bike a couple times.  I hate seeing stuff like that but the guy was a major dumbass.

Police pursuit of motorcyclists ends in arrests

By Harvey T. Rockwood
Sun Newspapers
(Created 4/7/2005 9:19:33 AM)

Two Twin Cities-area men face felony charges in the wake of a police pursuit last week in which they allegedly fled on motorcycles at speeds in excess of 150 mph.

The chase started in Bloomington after an officer tried to stop some motorcyclists in a group that authorities said had been speeding through the city on Interstate 494.

The motorcyclists sped along I-494 through Mendota Heights and South St. Paul before leaving the freeway in Washington County, authorities said.

The chase lasted about 15 minutes, according to police.

One of the fleeing drivers made it as far as the St. Croix River community of Oak Park Heights before stopping and submitting to arrest. Authorities identified him as Christian Douglas Laddusaw, 29, of Delano.

The other driver, 27-year-old Adam Roger Blomquist of Minneapolis, was arrested in Woodbury.

As he was taken into custody, Laddusaw repeatedly declared that “he had just ruined his life and that he was an idiot,” according to criminal complaints filed in Washington County District Court.

The complaints charge each man with fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, a felony that can bring a maximum sentence of three years in prison upon conviction.

Several other motorcyclists who had been in the group – which police estimated at between 10 and 15 – managed to elude authorities.

Police reports and the criminal complaints give this account of the incident:

Bloomington officer Carolyne MacAskill spotted the group of speeding motorcyclists eastbound on I-494 around 11 a.m. March 29. One of the motorcycles pulled over when MacAskill turned on her lights and siren, but sped away when she left her squad car and approached the vehicle.

Bloomington Police dispatchers relayed to Eagan and Mendota Heights police and the State Patrol MacAskill’s estimate that the motorcyclists were heading across the Minnesota River and into Dakota County at roughly 130 mph.

As Bloomington officers pulled out of the chase, state troopers pursued the first two motorcycles in the group, later determined to be those driven by Laddusaw and Blomquist.

Near the intersection of I-494 and Lake Road in Woodbury, Blomquist left the freeway and shut his motorcycle’s lights off, but could not elude the pursuing troopers. One of the troopers took Blomquist into custody as he prepared to flee on Lake Road.

Laddusaw’s speed was measured at 150 mph as Troopers continued to chase him northbound on I-494. Laddusaw turned onto Highway 5 and headed for Stillwater, but stopped at the Oak Park Heights City Hall and was arrested.

A third motorcyclist also was arrested but no charges had been filed against him last week.

Laddusaw and Blomquist remained in the Washington County Jail late last week after an initial appearance in District Court March 24. Laddusaw’s next court appearance was set for April 19 while Blomquist is to appear in court May 11.
