My news: Second Bike!
« on: July 25, 2010, 12:39:17 PM »
So...I am now a member of the god-forsaken polycyclist community.  This week, I brought home a 2010 Yamaha FJR1300A in "Liquid Silver".  I now have an open relationship with el Bandido.  For the whole story, see http://ssscheer.us/ARidersJournal/2010/20100720-MyConfession.html.

Congrats, Sven!  The new ride is gorgeous.  Nice write-up too.

How come some people get to have multiple bikes...  and some of us have NONE?

+1  :congrats:  I've always liked the Feejer (and the C14, too). I keep threatening to pull the trigger on one or the other.  It'll be interesting to see if Yamaha makes any changes to the 2011 or 2012 FJR in response to Kawi's 2010 update of the Connie.

While some that have none now, were polycyclists in the past.  :stickpoke:
From someone who is currently 'suffering' from Multiple Bike Disorder and has experienced times with no bike, I can tell you the future doesn't have to be dark for you.  :trustme:

Aren't those bikes (stone-age non-motorized cycles) in your sig line?

Paul - I'm certain there will be another bike or two in the garage at some point.  The Jeep is filling the open air enjoyment for me for now (if not the need for speed  :duh: ).  Once the kids get just a little older, a good 2-up machine will be on the list.  Another track bike would be nice too!

Sven - My Fisher may be stone-age in my racing series but it's newer than any motorcycle I've owned and it's doing just fine.  The Bianchi cost nearly as much as any of my 'modern  age' bikes - actually about the same as my B4.  And between the two, I hope to get as many miles in this year as I did last year on the Kawi (well over 3k so far).

Cmon Rob, you know you want to.

Damn!  I would buy that.  The guy wants about a grand more than I can imagine anyone paying and is about 1k miles too far away but that is spectacular.  The problem with rebuilds like that is you never get back what you put into it.  It's like my Gary Fisher - I have probably nearly a grand into it and couldn't get more than $3-400 for it.  I think he's dreaming that anyone is gonna pay more than $3k for it - no matter how pretty it is.  It sure is pretty, tho...

Hello my name is Dan Lander and I'm also a polycyclist.
Congrats Sven  nice choice for a 2nd bike! I talked a buddy into a fjr a few years back and he's still lovin' it. That was  the 1st generation, it gave a little more heat on the legs. But I took it for a ride right after he bought it (same day) and it was a pleasure to ride. I'm hoping we can make a road trip somewhere befor the summer is over(its going quick).
I can also park my Bandit next to my SV1000S and they get along great. They are both always eager and happy to go for a ride, and never had I seen any signs of jealousy!

Hey Rob, although I love being a polycyclist, I'll make you a great deal on a bike. I don't have any of them addvertised, trying to hold onto both of them but still behind on taxes.$1800.for the Bandit/or 3900 for the SV. Both have extra rims, rotars, tires.

Knowing how much work, money and time that guy put into that bike and how difficult it is to do: I would pay that much money for sure. No question. I've easily pissed that much into mine and it looks nothing like his.

That thing is suspension work away from being a damn mint/near perfect B4. I'm sure it's tighter than when it left the factory too.

You never get your money back for work like that but considering he's asking just a bit more than an abused version, I think it's worth the price.
