ignorance
« on: February 09, 2008, 02:51:58 PM »
Once again, it cracks me up that some people think Bandits don't rock n roll as well as sport bikes.  It is true to an extent, but I know some Bandit riders that can keep up with sport bikes quit well, if not even leave them.  One thing that I have learned is that sport bikes just make it easier to go fast.  Going as fast on a Bandit just takes a little more skill and nerve.  On a sport bike, you normally have inverted forks and braced swing arm stock and your body position is already leaning forward.  Those things really help a lot when really into it. As far as body position on the bandit, you just have to manuever yourself manually.

The capability of the Bandit exceeds what is sane on a public road, so although there are bikes more capable, its a moot point.  The limitation usually is the rider no matter what the bike is.
A B12 is a nice ride.  :-)

You are right the bike is very capable, but it does take a little more effort and a bit different riding style.

I don't know, every time I see a sport bike on the long highway interstate they always look at me like they are very unconformable. And every time I pass a cruiser its like they are standing still. So I guess when compared to music the Bandit is a little country and a little rock n roll.

It comes down to ball to brains ratio.  Some people allow themself to be convinced that a sports bike will allow them to push just that much further and OK to take that much more risk and a regular standard bike have limitations.  Technically, they are correct.  Realistically, it is only a small part of the equation.  The big part of the equation is the rider's skill.  Most riders on the road do not come close to the limitation of the bike they ride.  All the arguing about who's got the bigger one is just silly.

Obviously someone remembers Donnie & Marie.  Regardless, that really sums it up nicely.

My Bandit does dance and my Bandit does rock-n-roll   I've had some good times with sport bikes;then they come over and look over what the hell I'm riding afterwards. On the track and on the road. At the Bandit rally 2 yrs ago,on Sunday it was just myself and Oggie doggie left from Con. I had a father and son on a modded up ZX10R and the Dad was on a new R1LE. I led the way down the BLmnt pkwy with them in tow till I got to a look out just  befor we get off to the camp. They followed me over and we pulled the helmets off. The kid said," Man your fun to follow!" Then the Dad  said, "Thats cause he's a old guy like me." I've had some fun at tracks too. I've had folks come and check out the bike in the paddock after I pass them on the track, some reconize the bike and others ask questions. I've had a guy on a Ducatti something big bore supporting EX plates tell me its the fastest Bandit he's ever seen after I passed him a couple times in the carosel @ Beaver Run.(He had to ask what it was 1st) Theres plenty that get by me too, but they still look it over and complement the song the bike sings.(Holeshot pipes) After buying the SV I get to compair all the time, it does take more body positioning. The weight is more foward on sport bikes too. But she can dance!
