Hi
Has anyone had any experience or seen neon l.e.d. lights fitted to a bandit or any othere bikes, you know the type that are fitted underneath cars like in the film 2 fast 2 furious.
I'm sort of wanting to do it to my bandit 12s but not to sure if it will look tacky or not.

You also need to check your local laws concerning extra lighting. Some states, such as this swamp pit that I reside in, don't allow for extra lighting. I was told by an Acsention Parish Motor Cycle Deputy that the little neon green lights that hold my tag plate on were prohibited. I still haven't taken them off and I'm not going to, but be prepared to catch a little flak about it.

You have every right to customize as you wish, as long as the lawman don't say nuthin' I guess... Then you just pay the tickets anyway, no harm done except to the wallet...

I know that for some states, some of the rules are stuff like:

1. Lights can not be directly seen.
2. No blue(and/or red) lights...Something about being confused with cops.
3. Can do anything as long as you are not driving with those extra lights.

The law in the uk from what i can remember is if you use red or blue only the glow can be seen the actual light unit has to be hidden so as not to confuse people that you could be one of the emergency services.

The light kit that i have seen contains many different colours so you can have one colour one day press the remote that comes with it and change it the next or it will strobe a rainbow of colours.
I know this sounds real pimp my ride or squid like but hey its just a bit of fun and there's no harm in individuality.

I talked to my brother who is law enforcement in California. he says that any extra lighting can get you a ticket. Whether a cop will write you up, depends on his mood.

In the land of OZ, or at least NSW, I believe the law is that you can have neon lights etc but you can only have them operating when the vehicle is stationary.

It's a bit like the helmet laws. You can sell and buy any helmet you want, but you can only use a helmet that passes AS1698

Any extra lights that are not DOT compliant will get you a ticket. It does give the boys another excuse to pull you over on a slow night.

A neonized vehicle is pretty much illegal anywhere in North America.

Those lights are fine while the bike is parked though.

DOT Regulations in a nutshell

White headlights
Amber Turn signals/ running lights in the front.
Amber Turn signals/ Red Turn signals in rear
Red running lights in the rear

that is why I keep my on/off switch in a spot where I can turn it on and off easily.

A mate of mine (shyte thats hard to admit to, with what I'm about to say) has a Blue R1 with blue neons all over it. Real tossa material, but he likes it.

Mind you its good for one thing, everybody hangs shyte on him and leaves peoples like me alone

I can't believe that with all the exploits you guys talk about on here that you would be concerned about (illegal) lights!!
