im also getting the critical error alot.

Everyone will be.  It's not specific to anyone's computer here, it's a problem with the computer that the website is on.

>>I'm going to have to say it's a Mac thing.<<

Well, yeah, definitely. I'm not seeing the text thing on my PC, and I doubt if I updated the older Firefox on the Mac that it would've made any difference (I went back to 2.x).

The only thing I'm experiencing on the PC side now (besides the intermittent  phpBB : Critical Error) is no animated emoticons. The pages finish loading now, and text flows down the page layout. The emoticons play normally on the Mac, tho...

I notice if I right-click on the emoticons, I get this info:

Does that mean that these things are java, or is that just a java applet that loads an animated GIF? I can't figure out why only the beers emoticon animates and nobody else.

That was mostly meant as a :stickpoke: thing.  Personally, I don't think fruit belongs in the office.

I think you should just give them both a good whack. :)

I believe that java is only used to insert the smilie into the post.  You could see if there's anything in your preferences about gifs?  I have no idea why the beers icon works when the others don't.

Do the gifs on http://www.gifs.net work for you?

That's a mystery too, even though I've discovered the problem. Apparently it was some setting in my ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite software. I couldn't figure out what it was, so I just dumped the entire suite and installed the freebie firewall-only version ($50 in the trash  ) Why the beers GIF worked and no others is still a mystery, tho...

Except for an occasional phpBB : Critical Error, everything is pretty much back to normal on my PC side of things.

ARGH! Friggin Zone Alarm!  It causes so many phantom errors and problems.  I wouldn't have thought to look there, but then, I didn't know you had it on the puter. :)

So I guess its just hit and miss for the future with log-on's and postings getting interrupted intermittently at any time to anyone. Sort of like my Sprint phone service Instead of dropped calls it will be dropped postings. Now I have to ctrl+c everything I am writing or responding to order to repost at a later time, photoshop avatars are especially difficult.

It is til Pete can take care of the problem.  He's the only one with access to the hosting company that's having the problems.    I wish I could do something about it.  I am however prepared to host the site temporarily should it go down completely.
