Sold the Bandit 600 to my bro in Raleigh, NC.  He will love this bike.  I was looking at the B12, VFR, and FZ1.  As I was shopping, I felt that the VFR was a little too sporty of a riding position for all day comfort, especially since I was coming off the Bandit, although I could be wrong with this.  More importantly, I just felt it was over-priced, at MSRP $10,500.00.  The B12 was now the bike I wanted, only I don't particularly like the GSXZ color scheme, and could not find one locally that was wither silver, red, or black.  I found two silver FZ1's.  Knowing that I could not go wrong with any of these three bikes, I opted to make a cash offer for the FZ1  floor model, saving about $1,000.00.  I love this thing, it is a lot of fun.  I am getting Ivan's jet kit and Yosh, (good deal on both) and having Ivan install it tomorrow for me.  Hopefully my brother joins the board, and I think I have him talked into the BOSS '06 Rally.  Here a pic.  http://www.bikepics.com/members/banditboy600s/05fz1/

Way to go!  :congrats:

I, too, want to step up to the 1200, but I (too) despise the paint.  I hear it looks MUCH better inperson, but I ain't interested in a striped bike . . . I want another all-black one.

I know a couple of folks that have the FZ1.  They all love that bike the way we love our Bandits.

Enjoy . . . nothing like a new bike!
Ever noticed that they don't make helmets out of bone? There's a reason.

Ironic in that when I looked at the B12N in the dealer (03 leftover REALLY inexpensive) it was parked alongside the FZ1.  Back and forth, back and forth I went.  I'm happy with the B12, of course - but don't doubt I'd've been just as happy with the FZ.  Both great bikes.  Enjoy and best of luck with it.  :congrats:

Kev,

The liquid silver with the black engine looks sweet, man.   The graphics are a little different on the '05.  Mine doesn't have the tuning forks on the tank and the "FZ1" decal looks different too.

Let me know how the jet/can mod changes things.  I'm still bone stock.  Talked to my mechanic about installing a jet kit (just to see what he wanted for the job).  Said he rarely does them because, in his opinion, the bike needs to be dyno'ed and exhaust gasses checked to do it right.  He's a perfectionist, but got me wondering if I want to mess with mine.

Thanks for the nice compliments guys!  I love this thing.  Just had Ivan put his jet kit and a  Yosh pipe on it this past Sat.  Manny was right, Ivan does give you a good deal on the Yosh pipe if you buy his jet kit.  He installed it himself and the bike runs a lot smoother.  Starts better, and just runs a whole lot smoother through the power band, plus the Yosh pipe sounds sweet.  A little rumble at idles, then it barkls a bit, when you get on it.  Not mind numbing though.  Matt, i highly recommend the jet kit, it really does a good job, Ivan also has an AIS removal kit, which he recommends.  Do it!  Love the new DR.

Same story here!
Just picked up a 2002 FZ1 in Black with 7500km on the clock. Then did 2600 km trip through Ontario, Quebec, NY, and PA in 5 days! Effortless power and great comfort.

Silver B6 is now up for sale  :crybaby:

Too funny!  Next year's rally will be Bandits and FZ1's, lol!
