Probably your real reason is the same as mine. New bikes and dirty roads. I just can't bear to mess mine up. Yet.
Congrats on the FJ. At 56 I'm gettin real old and aching. But I just can't stop crotch rocketing yet. That's why the Bandit.

Shhhh, but I even managed a last wheelie!

The roads were not that bad actually, the parking lot stunk though. Actually the traffic was so shocked to see a bike out they gave me lots of room.

The funniest part was when I walked into the service department at Riverside and asked if they could have a quick look at my bike as I though the carbs were icing up!

LOL!  A hooligan you are!!  The drivers likely just didn't want you denting their cars if you slipped on some ice.   :duh:

LMAO! What did the boys in service have to say?

Get yourself some bar raisers which bring the bars back 1 inch and up 1 inch. It makes a world of difference.

Well I managed to get the new FJR out for a little blast last Friday, and all I can say is, I can see putting some serious miles on this bike. The wind protection is absolutely fabulous. It was only 5 degrees outside, and I was not the least bit cold on the highway, cruuising at 80 mph.

Compared to the Bandit, the FJR is a tank, but in a good way. I would kind of compare it to going from a Camaro to a Lexus. Both fun, but in different ways. At parking lot speeds, the FJR is a handfull, at higway speeds its a dream come true. You do not feel the engine or any vibrations until about 80 mph and then I would rate the vibrations at about 10% of the Bandit's.

Power wise, the FJR is a bloody rocket. (keep in mind I only have 24 km on it) I would best describe the power plant as an electric motor. Full of torque from the 1st twist of the throttle. Again, it's not broken in yet, so I was not riding it very hard.

I will give you all a full ride report once I get a few miles on the puppy.

The FJ1200 is still one of my favorite all time classics! Never owned one, but always oogled them, and still do!

This summer I ran into two fellows that were riding a couple of very clapped out ones, near Nelson BC. One of the bikes had 150,000 miles on it, the transmission was ready to fall out of it, and yet they were still touring in the middle of no where.
