Newbie to site

Hello all ...

I'm new to this site and just registered today.  Looks like there is some good information on this bulletin board.  I will have to spend some time checking it out for sure.

The site looks fairly new.  Who started it?

I just got back to the street bikes after an 18 year hiatus.  I picked up my new 2004 1200 Bandit 3 weeks ago.  I am thoroughly enjoying the bike thus far.  I got back into to the dirt riding almost 2 years ago now; that too after a long (24 year) hiatus from the sport.

So, I'm set for now ....  a WR250 for the dirt, a new Bandit 1200 for the street and an understanding wife.    

I look forward to using this site.

PS  First question if I may .... are there fundamental differences between US and Canadian versions of the Bandit; perhaps aside of emmission standards?  And of course, besides all the taxes we have to pay as Canadians on our purchases!

     The board is about 5 years old, in one form or the other.   We had over 2000 members at one time, but changed board servers a few times.
  The current membership total re-started like 2 months ago, due to a crash.

      I get all the blame for the board, I started it.

     I'm not sure there is much difference in the Canadian/US bandits anymore, other than current model year colors.
  I think there have been some more pronounced differences in the older models, like motor mounts.....and possibly a few other tidbits from the EURO models.  
  Oh yeah, you currently have the 650 Bandit, we don't!

It is my understanding that there are two differences between US and Cdn Models. (well, for the 2004 model year anyway)

#1.  We have rubber mounted footpegs.  Correct/incorrect?
#2.  We have a (yellow) switch to "flash"  the high beam to signal ... "Move over, I want to pass".   Correct/Incorrect?

Nope, the US models have always had rubber mounted pegs - and the pass switch was incorporated on US models in 2004. AFAIK, the only difference between a CDN & 49-state US 2G B12 is the unit of measure on the speedo/odo/trip meter.
(California models have a catalyst in the exhaust, larger vent space in the gas tank, a charcoal canister and a tip-over valve on the fuel vent.)
