NORTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP - A Bentleyville man was injured after his motorcycle was struck from behind Friday on Route 519, causing him to be ejected from the bike.
According to North Strabane Township police, Jeffrey D. Cull, 40, of 503 Washington St., was stopped in traffic on Route 519 near the Wilson Road intersection shortly before 4:30 p.m. when his motorcycle was hit by a vehicle operated by Gerald Ethridge, 74, of Eighty Four.
The force of the impact caused Cull to fly 33 feet through the air and land in the bed of a pickup truck operated by Lester Beal, 55, of Eight Four. Beal also was stopped in traffic.
Cull was wearing a helmet at the time of the impact. He was flown by emergency helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Ethridge stated that he was distracted in traffic and by the time he realized what was happening it was too late. Police do not plan any charges against him.
Although there was no report available from the hospital on Cull's condition, police said he suffered back injuries.
