OK....For Those Who Requested Pics.....
« on: May 22, 2006, 03:33:33 PM »
here's a link to the site of the place I bought the bike showing yours truly and the salesman after I assembled my '06 B12S. They even let me take it for a test hop BEFORE I handed over the bank draft. How's that for confidence in your customer ?? Of course the salesman has known me for quite a while.....and knows where I work and where I live.....LOLOL

http://www.walthealy.com/index.cfm?template=0D17305619A201471DE075340A38CA6A

I did/did take a bunch of pics from "bike in crate" to "bike loaded in back of my pickup" but since I'm pic-hosting-ignorant I can certainly email them to someone who can post 'em for me.

To whoever asked about the process: firstly, the dealer PDI/assembly monkeys were off for the long weekend holiday so they had no one except licenced mechanics to do the assembly/PDI.....and they're NOT going to pull some mech off a C$90.00/hour repair job to do an assembly/PDI that takes about an hour or so and for which they get peanuts from Suzuki for reimbursement.......and since I've got 40+ years wrenching experience it was pretty much a no-brainer for them if they wanted my business......and they still get reimbursed the pittance from Suzuki anyway. A winner for all concerned....
All manufacturers and dealers will not sign off on the warranty UNLESS their people do the work BUT for sure I can assemble/PDI a bike as simple as the B12S as well as/better than some 18 year old high school dropout that the dealerships around here employ as assembly/PDI personnel. That may sound elitist but that's the way I see it....and so did the dealership.
Well, it's going to be hard to hold 'er under 5500 for the first 1000 km (620 miles) but I'll give it my best......besides, 100 km/hr (60 MPH) is only 3500 RPM in 5th anyway.......right ??!!??

I'm amazed they let you do this.  In their shop with their tools?  I see all kinds of liability and insurance issues.  Wow!  That is so different.

Oh, and nice new bike ya got there!

Where's the big box of bolt on accessories?

Sorry, man, but I just happen to favor oriental people.  But if I ever take an interest in befriending Neandertals, I'll holler at ya'!

Thanks guys.....but, jbrough7, I'm actually the guy on the LEFT......      Yep, the colour does it for me. There are a zillion dark blue bikes out there of all makes but that wine colour "speaks" to me and it's not nearly as common....although Suzuki has used it over the years, sometimes on the Bandit (I believe) and definitely on various sizes/models of their cruisers too.
DA: Well, it wasn't exactly their shop......it was their parking lot......and I brought my own tools and service coat. You can imagine the looks I got from some knowledgeable customers.......and NO bolt on HD-type boxed accessories for me......well..... maybe some kind of homebrew cooler guard/screen thingy and maybe some kind of Givi tail rack thingy too but that'll be about it....well.....except for some kind of larger road-type screen. In Canada we can't get the naked B12 which is what I would have gone for just so I could put on some kind of larger fairing/shield arrangement. This IS my road bike, after all. ;-)
One squid pilot with a new Gixxer 600 actually hung around for about an hour watching what I was doing and politely asking pertinent questions. He was amazed to find out that I was doing this very thing for a living back in 1972 through 1975 when, of course, he hadn't even been thought of. Actually, he said his parents hadn't even met each other yet. Have I lived too long....???

I gotta say that this was a unique link to the dealer site.  Very Funny fact, and I wonder if the dealer knows.  The guy buying the gsx-r 750 is giving the hand signal called "The Shocker", a funny, yet vulgar symbol.  I bet it won't take long for the dealers site to exceed its limit of space once the general public gets hold of the link.

I let the dealer know.  I know he doesn't want something like that on his website.  Thanks for the info.
