Who sent me the turn signals and why won't it start.
« on: March 22, 2006, 06:21:41 PM »
Its been awhile since I have been on the board.

Someone from California ( I believe) was kind enough to send me some turn signals. They were put in the garage and I never knew they arrived. My house burned and while I was going through stuff, I found the turn signals

If you sent them, let me know and I will pay you what I owe you. Just remind me what that is. Sorry for the mix up.

Unfortunately, my 600 has been sitting in the same garage and didn't get started for  about two months. I attempted to start it yesterday and it just turned over without firing (hell of a battery). Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Check spark, drain carbs and tank add fresh gas. If that doesn't work it's time to clean the carbies.

Also, you may need to prime the carbs. After sitting awhile the gas is pretty much gone.

Put the petcock in "PRI" for a minute or so.

Might try a squirt of starting fluid, too.
Remove the lid from the airbox, remove the filter, spray down the carbs, start it and run it for a few minutes before puttin it back together.

It started, but...

I finally got a chance to get back to the bike. It started (eventually), but it idles at about four grand, now. If I choke it it dies.

To get it started I set it to prime. Cranked on it for awhile and it began idling high. I rode it to my apartment ( about 20 miles) and it never stopped doing it. I have only started it twice in the last two days, and it goes right up to the four grand idle.

What can I do? Does anyone know what may be causing this?

Did you check the obvious first?  Try turning the idle down with the idle adjustment screw?

Barring that, I'd bet you have partially plugged pilot jets in the carbs which would require pulling them and cleaning.
