Center stand commonalities between GSX650F and Bandit

I own a 2008 GSF1250SA which obviously comes with a center stand.  My younger brother just bought a 2009 GSX650F which is essentially just a USA version of the Euro Bandit 650.  His doesn't have a center stand.  I'd like to get him one for his birthday coming up but the dealer wants about $160.  Will a '07 and newer center stand from a big Bandit fit the GSX650F?  Could probably find a used one a little easier for a little less $

Unknown, to be honest $160 is a small price to pay for something that works properly and won't collapse and kill the bike and possibly hurt someone because the McGuivered one didn't work. It's kind of cheezy they are making you buy one though it should have come from the factory. It's too bad he already bought it. I'm sure at buying time he could request it as a deal sweetener. Let me take a look.

Well I did find out that the '07 and up 650 bandit centre stand will work.

Since the GSX650F uses the Bandit 650 frame I'm sure it will work. You may have to get one from Canada though as we had the Bandit 650 up here for a few extra years than in the States. According to the thread you need a 07 and up Bandit 650 Centre stand. You may be able to pick one up used.

I'm assuming the bolts and rubber bumper would be the cheapest parts. Those can probably be ordered from www.bikebandit.com

As far as the "official" centre stand I've seen them as high as $245 at Suzuki dealerships so maybe $160 bucks is not so bad. If you get a used one the shipping may be more than the cost. How far are you from the Canadian border? I'm in Toronto and we have a bunch of bike wreckers, Hell I've got parts from them "used" at half price still new and unopened in the Suzuki package. After searching some forums I only found one reference to buy a 650/1250 centre stand and it was kind of ambiguous. However if you get a 1250 stand for super cheap, I've seen the on Ebay for like $30, If it doesn't work at least you only wasted $30. Just be very careful when trying out the centre stand that wasn't designed for the bike. Get a guy on each side in case it falls over for the first time. You also may have to McGuiver some of the mounting hardware and centre stand bumpers.
