Motorcyclist charged with fleeing officer
Waukesha - A felony charge has been issued against a man accused of fleeing a sheriff's deputy at more than 120 mph while riding a motorcycle.
Robert G. Sund, 19, of Waukesha has been ordered to appear at a preliminary hearing Sept. 1 in Waukesha County Circuit Court.
A criminal complaint gives this account:
A deputy began pursuing Sund on Highway 59 in the Town of Genesee early Aug. 15 after Sund ran a stop sign.
Sund subsequently led the deputy on a zig-zag pursuit over a variety of roads, pulling into a school parking lot briefly and later traveling through a construction zone at a high speed.
The deputy, who eventually discontinued the pursuit because of the high speeds, got the license plate number on the motorcycle and later tracked Sund down and questioned him about the incident. Sund initially contended that his motorcycle had been stolen but later admitted responsibility, adding that his speedometer indicated he reached 130 to 140 mph.
