Riding in the rain: how do you see?
« Reply #15 on: March 14, 2006, 09:05:53 PM »
Silverstars have a VERY minor blue tint as compared to the poser lights.  IMHO, it's just enough to whiten them up (no yellow).  I love my silverstar (now I need to get another one for my new second light).

In answer to the original question... I watch the Weather Channel!   :stickpoke:  I take my nice, warm, dry, windshield wiper-equipped cage when it's supposed to rain!

same here my silverstar bulbs are a bright white. not blue. i leave for work at 5 am so most of the time its dark. and they helped give me a better field of veiw, the light seems to hit a little bit wider of path then my stock ones did, they also have a much better color to reflect off objects like deer and other road hazards. i have had mine in my bike for over 8000 miles with no problems of burning out? as far as riding in the rain (Rob) i left from last years rally in the middle of a hail storm on a naked bike, what do ya expect. i ride rain or shine to work almost everyday.

I just see past the rain on my visor. I have ridden in the rain enough for it not to bother me anymore.

My wife on the other hand gets rather annoyed when I am driving the car and forget to put the wipers on when it starts to rain. She often reaches over and turns them on for her benefit rather than mine.

Granted, but the EU version has NO tint and is said to be a better bulb.

Seems like they do last longer than what it says on the packaging, but that number (IIRC ~10% of a stock bulb's expected life) was the #1 thing that scared me off from giving them a try.

Wipers in a car who needs them.  I guess I stopped using mine when I started riding.

Thanks for all of the input on the Bulbs.  I will be replacing mine in the next few weeks.

I have Joe Rocket gloves each with a squegee built into the thumbs. $70 at the stealership. Haven't been in the rain since buying them so I can't say as to how well they work.

I've got a pair of Held gloves. I forget what they're called, they were a closeout from New Enough... but the wiper on them is like the one on the Held "Steve" sport-touring glove.

I use a couple of different set of Joe Rocket's.  The Ballistics for cold weather and a pair of stage 1 for warm weather.  They both have the shield wipers of the thumb.

wow i opened my eyes and started reading the dispcriptions more
and found most of the winter/rain gloves did have the thumb wiper

Tour-master Joe Rocket seems to be the cheapest so far
NewEnough has them in the $40-55 range.
I may grin and bear the last rains though
and wait for some closeouts!

Some reviews were saying below 40 degrees in the rain
Most gloves will still leave your finger tips cold on a long ride.
Is this true? Are electrics the only answer when it gets real cold?
