Riding in the rain
« on: June 18, 2007, 09:11:42 AM »
I recently replaced my front and rear tires on my Bandit. I know that the wheel bearings are of the sealed type (I think) However, when putting the front tire  back on, I noticed how there is a gap where the Speedometer Housing mates against the hub. There is no "seal" there, nor is there one on the back wheels.

Im thinking that if you do a lot of riding in the rain, wouldnt water make its way into the wheel bearings?  Crazy idea, but, Im thinking why not run a bead of silicone around the housing in the front to keep contaminents out? For now I pushed some wheel bearing grease into the area, but as I ride it seems to work its way out.  Just curious if anybody even worries about this, or is it not a big deal?

If the bearings are sealed, there's your seal.  :bigok:
