A Uniondale man was charged with murder after he intentionally smashed his car into a motorcyclist in an apparent incident of road rage in Uniondale, Nassau police said.

Police identified the victim as Igor Kruk, 24, of 253 Lenox Ave., Uniondale. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, Patrick DeJean, 41, of 1307 Maynard St., Uniondale, fled the scene after the accident, police said, but was followed by a friend of Kruk who stopped DeJean's vehicle while witnesses called police.

DeJean was arrested a short time later and charged with second-degree murder and leaving the scene of an accident. He is scheduled to be arraigned this morning in First District Court in Hempstead.

The incident began on Front Street in Hempstead shortly after 4 p.m. Police said Kruk and another motorcycle rider, whom they did not identify, passed DeJean's Honda, then it passed them, going back and forth.

They were on Marvin Avenue, about 300 feet south of Hempstead Turnpike near Hofstra University, when DeJean's Honda struck Kruk's motorcycle in the rear, police said.

The accident is still under investigation.

These assholes will kill you.  It doesn't matter if you're actually 'messing' with them,  or not.  A lot of these people are warped.   You can innocently pass them because they are going much slower than the speed limit, and it will 'set them off'.    Keep away from the jerks.

This is the first year I havn't gotten flipped off by a cage. Seems sometimes all you have to do is pass them or go faster than they think you should. Must be because I havn't been on the road as much, hauling around tools all the time.

Why does this jerk have any sort of license after intentionally running somebody down before?

The monster who killed
a mother's beloved son

He also ran down girlfriend at phone

The victim Igor Kruk

The driver charged with killing a motorcyclist in a Long Island road-rage incident served six months in prison for running down a girlfriend, authorities revealed yesterday.
Patrick DeJean, 41, plowed into the woman as she talked on a streetcorner pay phone - four years before he allegedly mowed down biker Igor Kruk on Saturday, prosecutors said.

"He's a monster, he's not a human being," said Larisa Kruk, a cousin of the slain man. "People like that should not be walking the Earth."

DeJean reportedly laughed when Kruk's friend chased him down after the fiery afternoon crash on a suburban side street in Uniondale, L.I.

The alleged killer also called the deadly crash an "accident" as he was led out of a police station yesterday, but authorities scoffed at his claims.

"He intended to kill," said Robert Biancavilla, a Nassau County prosecutor.

DeJean, a payroll clerk with a history of assault and domestic violence arrests, was charged with murder and ordered held without bail yesterday.

He was convicted of attempted assault for running over his girlfriend Michelle Bond on Feb. 7, 2001.

DeJean got six months in jail for the crash, which knocked Bond over the windshield but left her without serious injuries.

He somehow was able to obtain a new driver's license and registration in Pennsylvania soon after he was free, officials said.

"Looking at his previous record ... he has some anger-management issues," said Sgt. Dennis Barry of the Nassau County Police.

The latest crash unfolded as Kruk, 24, an immigrant from Poland, and his pal, Victor Fras, set off to visit a friend around 4:30p.m. They passed DeJean, who apparently felt they disrespected him, cops said.

DeJean sped his 1989 Honda Accord after the two men and followed them even when they turned onto a side street in hopes of losing him, cops said.

He slammed into the back of Kruk's motorcycle, pinning him to the road, and kept on going for half the length of a football field, according to police.

DeJean's car and the mangled bike careened into a parked SUV, which burst into flames and rammed two more cars before finally stopping.

A gouge ran for 150 feet down the middle of quiet Marvin Ave., marking the spot where Kruk lost his life.

Kruk's grieving mother said her son lived for the motorcycle he saved for months to buy, and had promised her he would be a careful on the road.

"He's a good driver, he would never do anything stupid," said Irena Kruk, 50. "He had a very nice heart. He was my right hand."

I sent this story over to the AMA.   Maybe they'll be able to use their clout to push for justice in this case.

In the years I've been riding, I haven't heard of something this calous.  It makes me sick...

This is what I don't understand.   Sounds like the guy did a lot of bypassing of the system.  I don't know what the situation was for him to get a NY license after he was released.   I doubt he got the PA paper for no reason.
It used to be, truck drivers could do a dodge and get a license in another state if there was a problem where they lived, or would just keep several current licenses to distribute the tickets over.   They stopped that 10 years ago by starting a nationwide database that cross checked the licenses of all states.
Why aren't they doing this with all drivers?   How can this guy who lives and works in NY, get away with a PA registered car, and drivers license for years?  Yeah, I know, he's using a relatives address or something. :duh:
Seems like the various gov agencies have enough data on all of us to do some cross checking.......

Yeah, but don't you have to have a birth certificate or something to get a license?
Maybe this guy had no parole obligations when he finished his sentence.  You'd think a PO would have caught it.
Maybe PA needs to check to see if he's filing state income taxes, if he claims to be a resident.

Used to see the same guy in the computer with 3 or 4 different licenses with different dob's...the computers don't cross-reference..but sit and scan them with human eyes and they jump out at you.
