Sidi Boots
« on: December 30, 2006, 06:42:19 AM »
Looking for a little help.  I am going to get a pair of new boots. Down to these three.  All Sidi products.
1) Aerostich Combat Touring Boot 2) Sidi Canyon Sympatex (new one ) 3) Sidi On Road Sympatex .

These are all within ten bucks of on another.  The Sidi Canyon Sympatex and Sidi On Road Sympatex are both advertised as waterproof.

If anyone has experience with the three of these please let me know.  My foot is wide and I am looking for something that fits secure and will last for a very long time.

Thanks!!!

My Sidi On-Roads are about 10 years old and still waterproof. Last year I had some of the velcro replaced because it was wearing out. Cost me 20 bucks so no biggie. They are comfortable enough to walk around for a couple hours at a moto show. I like Sidi enough that when I bought my DR I bought the Discovery boots to wear when riding it.

I have fairly narrow feet and my sidi B2s fit great.  I was told the euro brands (namely sidi) cater more toward medium and narrow feet, while asian brands (alpinestars, et al) generally have a wider fit.

All this could easily vary across styles of boots, so Id try some on to see how they feel.

I've had my On-Roads for a year and a half. Great boots, but they do run a little narrower than the old Joe Rocket Rhinos I had before. (I still have the JR's, too, though they never lived up to their waterproof claim.) The Sidi's took quite a while to break in for me before they were all-day comfortable in a walk-around sort of way.

My On Roads have proven waterproof on rides when even my 'stich leaked!  One word of caution on Sidi sizing though:  IMHO they tend to run a bit big, so try them on if you can.  I wear 12 in everything (which roughly corresponds to euro 47) but even with my wide feet I found my boots a tad roomy.  I put some padded insoles in and they fit fine, so not that big a deal.

Hmm... my Sidi On-Road 45's are tighter than my old 45 JR's... I was thinking the Sidi's were running snug.

But as with any shoe/boot purchase, try them on before making the purchase. I've got shoes in my closet that vary two full US sizes - just depends on who is making them and deciding what their sizes are, I guess.

I'm sure part of it is that the sizes don't exactly correspond.  Euro 47 is slightly larger than a US size 12.  AFAIK Joe Rockets are made/sold in US sizes, so the Euro size they list on the label may only be the closest size, not an exact translation.

I doubt this level of minutiae interests anyone else, so I'll just reiterate what was said above:  try 'em on!
