I can do my own for about $30.  If you do a small amount, it actually looks good.  I saw a red one under a crotch rocket's tail once, and it looked pretty sharp.  One my other bike I have one under the tail and a small one on the carbs.  I personally like how it looks, mainly because it adds a little something, but it isn't over done.

Ah yeah a few placed about the bike can look deadly, but throwing lights all over the gaff is manky looking.
