would a '97 bandit 12 with 50K miles of all freeway/touring miles be worth picking up if the price was right and all the services were done on time aside from thing like chain/sprockets, bearings, clutch ext... all being in good shape? any adive would help greatly. thanks

If its been well maintained, I would not be afraid of it. I had a 2001 with 34K and it ran like a top. Its probably worth 2500-3000 bucks.

My '02 just turned 36K miles and is still running like a champ.

If you can, get proof of servicing. You know receipts from reputable mechanics and shops etc.

If you can't get proof of servicing then be vary wary. A nice clean well presented bike can have some nasty little demons not very far from the surface.

I had a gixxer 1100 that had over 60k miles and ran great. I read some posts by riders who have gone over 90k miles. Usually what wears first are the carbs. The internals wear out and they get hard to synch. Not a real problems as there's usually a set carbs for sale on ebay.

I wouldn't get rid of mine because it had 50K on it, but I might be more wary about buying an unknown one with 50K, especially since there are usually low mile examples available cheap.

With 50K, it may be getting close to time for a new clutch, but that's pretty simple to do.

I got a B6 with a genuine 63 thousand miles on it. It just keeps getting better. Motor has never been pulled from the frame. My Fj 1200 when I sold it off had a genuine 140 thousand miles, and ran hard and fine, used a little oil like 400ml every thousand miles. again motor had never been out of the frame. These days with most sports touring jap bikes I would expect to get at least 200 thousand miles from a motor.

I saw a '97 B12 being dropped off for a service the other day with 65k and it sounded as tight as a bike with 10k on the clock
