Suck it up or f**k 'em up?
« on: July 02, 2007, 08:47:54 AM »
This morning on my way into work I had this asshat in a full size pick-up riding my ass after being stopped at a light. We start going again and get some room, but right away he gets right up on me again. I looked back at the guy with a WTF look and kept riding. My friend was in the right lane in her car. I got ahead of her and was going to move over into her lane with the dick cuts across before I can change lanes. I was talking to her once I got to work and she said she was giving him the evil look and cussing him out and he just smirked at her.

The whole ride into work I kept thinking to myself that all I wanted to do was get up to him and f**k his truck up. If I would have had something on me I'll admit I probably would have, but didn't have anything to chuck at him. Of course the thought of a boot to his headlight kept running through my mind. I've got friends that have told me many a story of things they've done to cagers that had it coming to them.

I do have a temper, but I also realize the potential consequences of my actions. Truthfuly I don't have a problem taking out my frustrations on a cager. My fear is that sure, I can do something as a means of payback, but what's that guy going to do to the next biker he comes up to? Is he going to take out his frustrations on that person? That is the only thing that keeps me from losing control. But, after this morning I'm going to be sure to keep an old spark plug or two in my pockets as a "just in case."

I know it's frustrating dealing with the idiots on the road, but after the road rage I had this morning I was wondering what some of you do in this sort of situation.

The rest of the ride in I said a little prayer - God, I'll be good and behave, but get him for me.

I give the one finger wave.  I realize that most cagers just see an obstacle when a bike is around and treat it like a little car, not giving the comfort room a bike deserves (or a car for that matter).   Most people are good at heart, some just have no common sense or are distracted.  I truly believe most of them just don't think about it until they are waved at and some of them look at you like "why did he do that to me?".  Rare is the true  :monkeymoon: .

I've done it before, but I'm not ashamed of it...

You have to look at the legal issues here... that is, if you do decide to "get" the guy, which I certainly would never recommend to anyone, of course. Heaven forbid.

But just as a theoretical situation, it would be to your advantage to think clearly and be smarter than the idiot (I mean, cage driver)... for instance, "what if" you:

Give the guy the finger or whatever it takes to get his stupid face red with anger, then race ahead with him in pursuit. Be careful not to lose him.

Find a spot to pull over that's wide enough for his truck... make sure there are witnesses around.

Quickly get off your bike and wait for him to jump out of his truck and rush over to you screaming (if he's not angry enough, another discrete gesture with the middle finger may be in order).

Do NOT take your helmet or gear off. No such thing as a "fair" road fight. Let him take a few swings at you, (make sure there are witnesses) and after he breaks his knuckles on your helmet, you can now "defend" yourself all you want, since he attacked you first. He'll be helpless with his busted hands, so you can take your time and enjoy it. Just be sure to stop short of killing the bastard, that could be a real nuisance in court.   :annoy:

The witnesses are the key here... all they saw was a crazy A-hole in a pick-up chase you down and attack you. You have every right to defend yourself. Know what I mean?  :bandit:

ATGATT!   :bigok:

sometimes...being a woman sort of changes things, sometimes i'd like to hit people, and once in a confrontation I don't always see sense and will tell a 250lbs guy a foot taller than me that I wish he'd swing at me...SO knowing my personality I don't think I'll ever pull over. I have kicked out a womans headlight as she was changing in to my lane, I was riding the yellow line trying to avoid oncoming traffic and kicking the side of her car to get attention (evidently the bike right beside her window wasn't obvious enough)...her light shattered. I was too pissed to pull over but I should have, I had no idea that damage could be done to my bike without me falling over, as it was she cracked my side panel, and scratched my muffler badly. Good thing I moved my leg and was busy kicking. Moral of the story, bike doesn't need to fall to suffer damage, next time kick harder right at the beginning.

I wouldn't have done anything either- I too hear stories about putting a boot to someones door- but honestly- if someone booted my car(of course it would be an honest mistake on my part)...some poor cyclist would eat a ditch.  It is simple mass vs mass...and a car will win everytime.

I know that there are people that don't respect us on bikes...but I just blow them off as idiots and go on about my ride.  Not worth me being the guy eating the ditch.

In this particular situation- I woulda pulled over just to get the maniac away from me.  If he had the balls to stop with me then I woulda proceeded to Zens style. :stfu:

I live in a smallish town and drive the same road every day and see the same a**holes every day.

I also have dogs, three in fact, and a fair memory for plates and car types..

I also walk my dogs very early in the morning, which means that I always have a bag or three of crap with me.  Now the bags that I buy for containing the said crap are not the best.  They are thin and often break.
This is sometimes refered to as the Golden Bag award.  When I find the offending car, as long as it is not on my regular walking route, the award is presented.

This serves the purpose without injury to self or others and no innocent persons are harmed, beyond the neighbour of the offending car who might own a little fluffly dog.

I recogmend justice in a smart way.   This doesn't get even with many of the offenders but I do get a few and they pay for the rest.

I don't feel that revenge ever works out as well as it does in fantasy.

In this case, this guy was tailgating you (if you were in a car, that's what we'd call it), and then took advantage of an opening that you were intending to use.  So he was driving in an aggressive and unsafe manner, but not illegally.  I can't see it would be worth doing anything that would cost you money (like damaging his vehicle) or get you hurt (like picking a fight) over this.  Whether you are in a car on on a motorcycle, the stupidity of other drivers is just part of the landscape.

Slap a "gay pride" bumper sticker on the back oh his vehicle.  That will eventually get his attention.

We made up a sticker that said "Caution: Driver Masturbating" and put it on a friend's car once. Said everybody was laughing at him at work til somebody finally told him what was on his bumper.

I've done it in my youth, but in my older and hopefully wiser age, I don't do that anymore. In a situation like this, I would either wick it up and get far away from the jerk, or pull over and let him become someone else's problem.

It can be damn tempting to get revenge on other drivers.

Then I remember: I'm driving a motorcycle and they're stuck in a gorram cage!

So I laugh and drive off, then vent online

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR.....YES, IF A 250LB. MAN HITS YOU, "HE" WILL LOOK BAD, BUT "YOU" WILL STILL GET HIT.....NOT A GOOD RESULT.....

ACTUALLY, TAILGATING IN MOST STATES IS ILLEGAL.....

GETTING REVENGE IS A SWEET IDEA.....HOWEVER, IT IS JUST NOT WORTH THE HASSLE.....

GIVING SOMEONE THE FINGER AND RIDING OFF IS NOT THE WORST THING, BUT SOMETIMES IT WILL ENRAGE THE OTHER MOTORIST.....

USE YOUR MOTORCYCLES ABILITIES AND LEAVE THE IDIOT FAR, FAR BEHIND YOU.....OR AT A RED LIGHT.....

I ALWAYS THINK ABOUT REVENGE, BUT I TRY TO NEVER SEEK IT.....HOWEVER, WE ALL HAVE OUR MOMENTS.....

Well, "following too closely" is generally illegal, but it's a judgement call on the part of the LEO.  Generally, nobody's gonna get cited for it unless it's in conjunction with an accident.

That is, when it comes to tailgaiting, driving recklessly is usually ignored as long as you're driving wrecklessly.

Yes payback can make you feel betta, yes they had it coming. Other than that, it was just a waste of your time.
Yep me too guilty as sin.

But one day that efen cager is some sicko, way sicker than you and I, even in my youth  So it ends up being payback for the payback for the payback for him being a d*$(@&^.
And so on and so on.

As red says "wick it up or pull over", the next person might be sicker than him and simply blow his efen brain out
Now thats a great payback, and ya had no involvement  and you can legally enjoy the crap out of that fact. He got what he had coming, and there aint no bad karma on you :bigok:
