Well my mother got me a $100 gift card to my local motorcycle shop for Christmas. I was thinking of maybe picking up a pair of steel jeans and maybe a pair of boots. I was hoping you guys could throw some suggestions my way. What would you guys buy?

Do you want winter gear or summer?  Those jeans are junk, spend your gift $ on something more useful. The boots would probably be a good idea if you need a pair. Gloves? Stuff for the bike?

It would be summer gear since I have the bike stored for the winter. I just got a good pair of gloves recently. I could probably spend $100 on boots alone. Anyone have any suggestions for a good pair of boots?

$100 might cover a pair of low-end boots. A better idea might be to add some of your own $$ to it to get something you like.

What brands of boots does this shop you have the gift certificate for carry?

I got a $100 gift cert from work - Amazon.com - was wondering what to get too, until I realized they sell a lot of motorcycle parts/gear through their site.  Ordered a Race tech fork springs.  Can your local shop order some (assuming you haven't done the mod and want a suspension upgrade)?  My $0.02.

They can pretty much order anything. They have tons of stuff in stock as well. I haven't done any suspension work to the bike yet. I'm not sure if I will since I might upgrade to an fz1 next year. I'm not even sure where I would start if I did do any suspension work.

I suppose I could always put it towards a new fz1. But that wouldn't be until next year. How do you like the sv1000 so far? I contemplated buying an sv1000s, but I'm not sure I like clip-ons. I've never rode a bike that had them for a long distance.

Havn't got to ride it too much yet,but its supposed to get up to a balmy 42-44 degrees yet this week. It doesn't seem to have as much power as my Bandit.I don't mind the clip-ons ,so far I like them. But havn't been on any long rides yet either. I'll know better in time, in the mean time I'm keeping the Bandit.

Well I looked around today and I decided to order a pair of Icon Super Duty 2 Boots. The one guy that worked there recommended them so I figured I'd give them a try.

Good choice - My pair have lasted me through 3 bikes and I have worn them in all weather.  Mind you I do seem to change bikes a little too often.

what shop you looking at? if from ohio also. if i had a 100 bucks to spend on the bike, or on bike gear. i would look into www.newenough.com also. bought lots of stuff from them cheap prices and great service. not real big on icon boots, sorry they look like hiking boots with a strap on them to me? if i was gonna ride in something like that i would go get a pair of hiking boots for like 30 or 40 bucks. look the same to me. +2 on the alpine star boots i have a set with over 30,000 miles on them and they just started leaking this past winter. due to walking to much in them and wearing a hole in the soles. i have a half mile walk at work to get from my bike to my locker. so for three years of riding to work and walking a mile in them and 30000 miles of riding on them they were worth the 119 bucks i paid on new enough. i had the roam waterproof boots. the above pair replaced them i think. good boots are worth the money.
these are 69 bucks on new enough and much better then icon i think?
