Tear, the beast goes up for sale tomorrow
« on: July 09, 2007, 08:19:01 PM »
well, i finally did it after a year and a half of saying I would. I put the bandito up for sale. Getting married sucks in the fact that you have to pay for it.....(in a monetary sense)
the bandit needs a new home and it breaks my heart to put it up. hopefully nobody will call.......Sorry hun, nobody wants it...guess I will have to keep it.
She does say that she wants me to get another bike when we have this shindig payed off here in a couple of years..maybe a 07 will be in order then.

I know you're adults who can make your own decisions, but it does sound like you're doing some shortsighted financial planning.  I mean, selling something that's paid for to fund something else, only to pay MORE to replace the first item is just not good planning.  Can't you trim back on the costs of the groom's cake or something?

I've never been married, and with my attitude, it probably ain't never happening, but I don't understand people who (and I have no idea if you fall in this category) spend the money on what could pay off credit card debt or a get running start on a mortgage on what is essentially a big party.  Yeah, I look at it too logically, I know.

I wish ya all the luck in the world, and many years of health and happiness together.  But I hope that bike NEVER sells!

Congrats, man!

If she really loved you, she wouldn't make you sell your Bandit just to pay for her fancy wedding.

But it really ain't nunna my bizness.

Congrats, I guess.

Ok, speaking as someone that has been married for 24 years here. After the wedding there will be other things that will have to come first. House, furniture, cars, kids, college, etc etc. There is always going to be another expenditure that is more important than getting another bike. I ended up waiting 24 years to replace mine and boy do i regret that !

A Wise man once said ( not me ) If you wait untill you can afford kids, youll never have any.  Ive raised two and didnt think i could afford them but managed too. My suggestion is to keep you bike, youll still manage the party.

Congrats by the way!! I wish you both the very best.

I'm getting married in September and we're in the same situation where things need to be paid foff .... let me tell you this tho.... if that bike goes, good luck getting another one soon... LIke others have pointed out - you will have other "priorities" like house, car, kids, etc... so fight to keep that bike at home to the best of your abilities !!

Good luck and congratulations :)  :congrats:

personally I think weddings have gotten entirely out of control for the most part on how big they are.

I totally agree with ya there, Bro.

I'll even go a step further and say that the concept of marriage has gotten entirely out of control.

I've been with the love of my life for nearly ten years now. Best woman I've ever known, loves me to the ends of the earth, and I trust her completely. Why ruin a good thing by getting married? Besides, if I ever asked her, she'd probably think I lost my mind.

Marriage has become a requirement in our society...  it's what's expected of everyone, and the pressure to conform is unbelieveable. Personally I think it destroys more relationships than it helps.

But I'm just an old noncomformist at heart, what do I know.

Anyway, good luck and best wishes... I really do hope it works out for ya. It's just that having to give up your bike may not be a good indication of things to come....  :congrats:

I think it cost me less than $100 to get married in Reno... the cost to drive down & back, license, ceremony and the hotel room. Of course, that was 26 years ago.

thanks for rubbing it in all. Well, we kept the wedding under 10k and want to pay cash for it. SO, the bike is pretty much gonna pay for the honeymoon. Got the house and furniture allready. She enjoys the ride so I won't have a problem getting another bike. I will just have to go without for a while. Any longer than I want it to and she knows that there will just be a bike in the garage one day when she comes home. That is not an understanding...it is a fact...just like how this bike got here a couple summers ago.   But I told her on our first date that I want a truck, a boat and a bike before I get married....the boats gonna be a wedding gift. So 2 outa 3 aint bad...and i guess i had them all in a year.

I'm getting married in August and borrowed money to pay for it....because I know once the bike is gone, it'll be hard to ever get another one  :annoy:

2600 is what I want to get out of it. After all this talk on here I sat down with her last night and she said she was expecting me to get another bike in the spring. Whew. All this talk was starting to get me nervous.
