Best thing:

- riding up over a knoll at speed, cutting down through the countryside while wafts of pine trees and laurel permeate your helmet and fill your olfactory senses...

Worst thing:

From this past Easter Sunday's experience:

Best: A sweeping s curve ahead... and a Tim Horton's cuppa at the end of it. It was COLD!!! :)

Worst: Watching the guy ahead of me gaff and pull out of the junction on his Kawi 636 directly into the path of a family in a green toyota corolla. They both made it ok, thank god.

I had just put the bike in the garage and jumped in my suv with my family , heading off to visit my old man. Come around a sweeping curve and there were cops and a tow truck, dragging a crotch rocket up from the ravine! No sign of the rider so I presumed the ambulance had already taken him away?

I'm 46, and I've never seen that sight before...made my hands shake on the wheel!

Looked in the paper the next day but saw no mention of the accident or if the rider died. He must have been flying around that curve!

BEST: The almost Zen like experiance of being at one with the bike and the road, and the raw smell of nature that you just can't get in car.

WORST: Picking bits of the road out of your skin after you became 'one' with it, after trying to dodge a rather large piece of nature that jumped right in front of you.

Road rash is the worst. I've only gone down once and it was on loose gravel. Did a nice baseball style slide at about 10 mph wearing just a sweatshirt and jeans. Ouch! Chewed up elbow and had a nice, bright red hip. I got lucky, I rode to a local ski resort and the ski patrol was in for summer practice in first aid. The instructor was tickled, a real victim to demo on for the class. Checked me out for broken bones, etc. then patched me up.

Just about nailed another frickin' dog today - talk about having your heart in your mouth! Aren't these things ever tied up? I swear this shepherd weighed almost as much as my bandit!!

almost forgot: my favorite thing about riding...I like all of it, getting caught in the rain, bugs in my teeth, getting stung in the ear under my helmet, there have been times when I thought I'd sell my bandit because I don't get to ride it as much as I'd like to, but 5 minutes in the saddle and I know THERE AINT NO WAY I'M EVER SELLING THIS BIKE! of alll the bikes I've ever ridden, none has moved me the way my bandit does.

Best,is riding itself.Looking far ahead,no traffic in sight,looking around the turn ahead of you far as you can and the bike just follows through what your mind and body is doing. And in the right places,taking it to its limits,with a steady roll-on as you come through a turn. Ahhh,gotta love it!
Worst, picking up a buddy and his bike out of a ditch or off the road.Luckly for the couple times that it happened to me there were no serious injuries. And they were able to ride back on the back of my bike instead of a ambulance. Dan

KX - I know just what you're saying - it's kinda like that sailing bumper sticker - 'the worst day on a bike is still better than the best day in a cage!'
