I have a '98 B12 with 77k on it but I have been laid up with a
bad leg for the last seven months plus its been pouring for the
last couple months here in Oregon
otherwise I would have been close to 90k by now.
She runs great, starts every time weather freezing or sweltering.
I've no major repairs on it; just tweek the valves every 20k
or when they get noisy.
I do run Amsoil synthetic diesel oil in her but I rarely
change it(or the filter for that matter.) She uses NO oil.
Changed the wheel bearings at 50k and replaced lots
of brake pads and seven sets of tires(MEZ4)
On my second chain but then I rarely clean it either,
just hose it down every hour or two
wiht the WD-** LUBricant.
I figure if I do blow her up(sorry baby) , I then have
a reason to make her into a 1464 stroker(1340+5.5stroke)
I've had most of the parts for a couple of years but
I hate to screw with an engine that runs perfectly.
I don't even have vibes when I ride.
As for the courier, I understand that he put 300k on his
bike. I do know that he parted out the bike and gave
the still good engine to a friend for a project.
I know he parted out the bike b/c I have
his gas tank. I bought it for an expansion project(7.5 gal.)
that hasn't happened yet.
