noob warning

first time doing this on a motorcycle. Do i need to remove my disc brakes when i take the wheel and old tire into the bike shop? The manual for my B400 says that you need to remove the discs but does this need to be done? I really dont want to mess with it after they have never been removed in 12 years.

No, I've never had to take the rotors off, and the shops don't take them either.

I took it off my rear tire because I didn't know either. The shop didn't complain or say anthing.

Just be VERY careful!!!!!! You don't want to ding up that rotor!! They are expensive! Make sure you transport the wheel in a manner that the rotors aren hitting anything hard.

i had them stored so they wouldnt hurt those rotors...believe me i checked the oem parts prices!!

just dropped them off there today....cant wait to see these new tires!

I always leave everything on, I like to have all of the rotating mass balanced. Oh and if you talk to someone that does not seem to be the master mechanic, quiz them on the dot on the side of the tire (That is where the valve stem should be lined up with the dot) at least it happens to me every now and then here in the sticks!

Two weeks ago I took a front tire off the 1200s to the dealer to have it balanced ( they have a Snapon computer balancer) and the guy asked which way does it turn.

I said the little arrow on the side might help!

The service manager was standing there and he made sure it was right!
