Turning the dotted line solid....
« on: June 23, 2006, 10:52:51 AM »
Talking to a young guy on a ninja yesterday and he said he's had it so fast, the dotted line went solid!   Asked him how fast exactly, but he wasn't sure...

Anybody had the experience and knows the speed?

well lets see. its not that hard to calculate. as the dotted line on the interstate being 8 feet long and 8 feet apart, that means that he is. Well, full of shit and wanting to impress a bandit rider. I've gone 186mph, thats 300kph I think for you canadians (then the gov. kicked in) on a GSXR 1000 and don't recall the line going solid. Maybe he needs his eyes checked.

The real question is how fast would you need to go to get it to plaid.

He's full of it about the line going solid of course, BUT, there is an optical effect that can occur when you pass about 125 m.p.h. If you're on black top and the broken lines are white, you'll actually see some flashes of red between the black and white. Your eyes can get tricked by an 'information overload' that affects your optic nerve, or so I was told, and it only happens with black and white. Try it out, but on a track only, please.

I'm pretty sure you would need an "infinite improbability drive" to go fast enough to make the lines go plaid

Another funny movie, but I thought that those "Men in Black" (a third funny movie) were supposed to keep those red aliens off earth?

Mel Brooks should be declared a national tresure.
