I've used Bridgestone BT56 (OEM), BT-20 and BT-21(front only) as well as Michelin Pilot Roads.

So far I thiink I like the Pilot Roads best. I want to try the dual compond Pilot Roads next.

I have no idea, but hear reports about Michelin, Conti, Avon, Bridgestone, Metzler, Pirelli, and Shinko.

I don't get the consept of wanting to know popularity of brands. It seems to me feedback on grip, longevity, feel, and price would be more helpful. Some want maximum grip for weekend canyon carving, others want longevity for commuting, and I bet since the Bandit is pretty much a bargain shopper type bike, that many are looking for a decent grip, longevity, AND a good price.

The most popular tires in the USA are black. (In the UK they use tyres.)
Some will choose them in wild colors or with wide whitewalls though.

Seriously, the Z6, Pilot Road/Road2, BT020/021 & Avon Azarro have all been popular in the US.  Shinkos are starting to get a foothold now, but have been popular with the Australian folks for longer.

I've used a BT020 (rear) and 010 (front) combo and a the Pilot Roads.  The Bridgestones were OK, but I like the Roads better - the next set will probably be the Road2's in the spring.

Please don't take offense... I was joking about the difference in the UK spelling and the North American spelling.
English can be hard enough to learn, but when you throw in the variations from different countries, it only makes it worse.

I don't know what the majority uses, just what I like most. I have used Bridgestones in the past, but didn't like the way the front wore(010) I've used a set of Michilan (Piolot Powers I think, its been a few yrs.),they were alright, wore out around 2800miles.
I've used up many Dunlop 207s,gave me good stick @ the track and the twisties, but now using 208 Qualifiers. As far as I'm concered, they're top shelf for all around road /track,and desent in the wet too. Also have a set of 208 GPs(track only) that were the best I've used on the track (for awhile) but after a few track days and heat cycles they get real greasy.
The tires that I've been using most for the last few yrs on the Bandit are the Conti's. They are more reasonably priced, and I can not find any complaints. I've used the Sport Attack and got around 3K(maybe a bit short off)out of them, then switched to the Road Attacks for more milage and they still stick pretty good. Done track days with them (while new)with good stick, good in the wet, I like the way the bike handles with them, good all around tire with a desent price tag. Get a little over 3 K out of the back (2 fronts to 1 back)
On the track this year,I'd like a set of maybe 209GPs,or a set of slicks, maybe a set of rains. My 1st choice of tire will be what ever set I get spocered with! If my wife doesn't veto my racing this year,I can get a couple sets for free from Cycle City of Erie, and KK Speed & Sport of Erie(my home shop).  Dan

I believe I'll give the Avon Strom-ST tires (tyres) a try. When it comes time to replace the originals. Suppose to be great handling and last a bit longer.

Here is the web site if interested.

The Avon Strom-ST is the replacement tyre for the Azaro-ST.

I think when it comes to street tires and the harsh realities of the roadway, there are only 3 things that I now take into consideration when buying a new set of street tires, performance, performance, performance. Having said that there is one other thing I will need, tire changer and balancer, neither of which have to be expensive.

I fitted a Metz Roadtech on the rear half way thru last season as the OEM Dunlop was shot after 5k. I am pleased with how it handles so I have one on order for the front. Been waiting 3 weeks already. If this was the riding season, I'd be pi**ed off......

Oh the great tyre (tire) debate yet again. :stickpoke:

Opinions on tyres are like arseholes, everyones got one.  Personally, I don't like the Macadam front tyres (thank christ they don't make them any more).

I've pretty well stuck with Metzlers since replacing the OEM tyres.  I found the M1 to be brilliant except I only got 5000km out of the rear, the ME4 was pretty good, and I've just put on a Z6.

Others around here will say Shinko's are the best, others swear by Pirelli (expensive Metzler) and the debate continues.

I think the best advice is to find someone who has a similar bike and riding style to you and see what they use.

I've used a bunch of different sportbike tires and, at least for now, I have found the Pirelli Corsa IIIs to be unbeatable. Fantastic traction, and feedback, with decent mileage. Hope this helps. Cheers, Jack

I run Pirelli Diablo Stradas and I absolutely love em! Great traction in all conditions!
