Back on 2 wheels, WOOT!
« on: October 14, 2007, 10:10:46 PM »
FINALLY the wait is over. Started saving earlier this year after reading Long Way 'Round. Also, another board had a member riding across the U.S. and back with daily posts/updates. Those 2 fellas put the spark back into wanting to ride after a hiatus of about 5 years.

I was dead nervous when I hopped on, I won't lie. Last bike was an '89 Ninja ZX-10 (137hp, honest to goodness 170mph bike). No slouch for its' age. So knowing that power could be incorrectly applied in a split second, I hesitated. Took off after one final handshake, didn't stall it (was worried I would!). The nervousness immediately went away upon the first stop sign. Everything came FLOODING back as if I hadn't missed a day. It was beautiful.

I'm certainly rusty in areas but will no doubt sharpen within a few months. Certainly gotta stop searching for 6th gear! It could use it IMO, it's got the balls to pull it, and would be awesome for a highway gear. Mileage would shoot up I would think.

Enough babbling. Here she is. 2005 Bandit 1200. 26xx miles, Givi trunk, tinted windscreen. BONESTOCK otherwise (which I love, unmolested). $4800.

I just noticed that you are in Mesa.  Darn shame that I didn't notice this sooner.  Myself and one of the other members went riding this last weekend.  It would've been great to have you along as well.  If you want to get together for a ride this weekend, send me a message.  I live over in Glendale.

Thanks for the invite. I went for a short ride Saturday afternoon but had to get home to pack. I work all over the U.S. (I'm in Mississippi as I type). I'll be back this Friday but leave right away for Vegas for a mini vacation. Come back and spend basically every week in Reno until Christmas. I should have weekends so I'll have to post up and see what's going on.

Thanks again! It's a blast. Love it.

Welcome!

It's funny - we have another vee-dub guy.  There are several on this board (although I HATE my 03 1.8T Jetta right now.  I call it the CEL machine.).  This is one of the threads we've had (a couple of these members no longer have Bandits and don't come around much).

Suzuki finally updated the whole bike in 07 , 6th gear was one of the upgrades. Alot of people with the older bandits changed the sprokets for a taller gearing to help on the highway, It reduces the buzz in the bars on the older bandits also becasue the bike isnt running at that higher RPM going down the highway. You will love the bike. i have always liked the bandits but the lack of 6th gear, and being air cooled kept me at bay, until this year, I have an 07 bandit. Love it. I really like the paint scheme on your bike. Enjoy it.
