How did you chop it?  Dremel?  I sort of thought that most of those screens were made of fairly brittle plastic.

I'm using a Laminar Lip on top of my regular windshield.
No mileage differnce with it on or off.
The real fuel eater is the speed.
I did a New York trip this summer.  Went pretty calm on the
way to NY - 46 to 51 mpg.  Hot rodded it on  the way back ( lots of empty roads)  -  41 to 43 mpg .
