People must, probally about 1/2 of the users on this board got them second hand. I can pretty much promise you that the 400 owners did, some even third or fourth hand!

Bought mine used, too... it was only in the first owner's possession for 4 months, during which he racked up an astounding 590 miles.  :duh:

I was in a dealer's showroom today looking at a B6. The VIN said it was built 10/03. So the saleman says "It's an 04."  I say "the tag says 03."  He says "that means it's an 04."  Go figure.
There's nothing sweeter than the feeling I get leaned over in a long sweeper while the sun shines over fields of wind-swept grasses and trees that bracket me, the bike, and the warm lovely sitting tightly against my back.

They generally introduce new models in the fall, just like cars.  Just like cars, bikes that appear on the showroom floor in September/October are usually built a couple of months before that. It wouldn't surprise me to see an '04 with a build date of 07/03. 10/03 would be an '04 model without a doubt.

Hre's a Silver 2002 1200S for $5000:

Colorado Powersports in Boulder, CO is where I bought my 2002 1200S. I think mine was advertised for $5800 when I bought it last spring (2004). I got conned into paying their $1300 "crate" fee where they set-up the bike and such on top of that, so like $7100 in total. Crate fee my @$$ it's commision... and they didn't even set the bike up correctly. Steering nut was loose, throttle position sensor was not set correctly. I certainly won't be paying $1300 over and above an advertised price again, nor would I recommend anyone else doing the same.

But $5000 is a great price for a bike like the Bandit...
