Got a set of Pirelli Diablo Strata's installed on myB12's rims for $255.00. Seemed like a fair deal to me. I could have ride in/ride out for 30.00 more but I wanted to clean the inside of the front forks and rear swing arm both had 36,000 miles of gunk caked on them. I even tooth brushed the nooks and cranies with WD-40 and Back to Blacked the brake calipers. I swear new tires make my bike feel 20 lbs lighter and like it gained 10 HP.
Glad you got the wheels all nice and clean, but did you clean and inspect the cush drive in the rear hub and re-pack the wheel bearings front and rear?
They don't have a lot of grease in them from the factory.
The feeling of light weight is quite correct. When I replaced my Macadam's with M-1 Sportecs, the old worn off tire weighed more than the new Metzeler!!
Also the new profile will make the bike happier to turn in, adding to the feeling of reduced weight. I noticed a similar (yet not as pronounced) improvement when I replaced the OE steel rear sprocket with an aluminum one. Good stuff.
