Any nice roads from Wisconsin south into Illinois then east into Indiana?

I'm flying out to Big Bend next Monday to pick up an '07 and ride it back to Massachusetts.  I want to go south into Illinois and then eventually east into Indiana and continue on into Ohio, PA and so on.

I want to stay off interstate highways at all costs.

If any Wisconsin/Illinois locals know any decent roads I'd be much obliged.
