"First Sundays" in Ephrata, PA
« on: March 30, 2006, 01:29:19 PM »
It's (finally!!!!) that time of year again.  If you're not familiar with it, the American Legion in Ephrata, PA holds a Breakfast for Bikers on the first Sunday of every month from April through November (I think).  The actual food is to be avoided at all costs but it is a cool day.  If the weather is nice, the day can draw thousands of bikes.  There's always some purdy Italian bikes, nice customs and so forth.  There are some decent roads in the area, too.

It all starts this Sunday the 2nd.  The weather is to be decent.  I don't have any firm plans for this Sunday but would love to ride with some BA members if anyone is interested.  If you are, post up!

I'm planning on getting down to one this year, but can't make it Sunday, I'm flying out to Nebraska for work.

I'm thinking June might be a good time, I'd probably ride down that Saturday and make a weekend of it.  It'll depend on my wife's work schedule.

when the time gets a little closer maybe we can make it a mini rally! :beers:

I'll give you a ring Rob. We're just getting back into town on Friday so we'll see.

Very tempting though...

Junior and Randy - got your messages.  Sorry - left the cell phone in the car.  Randy - I'm probably leaving my house around 8:30.  I'll be at Martins in Pottstown at 9:30.  Maybe I'll see you.

I rode.  Met Randy and BSed for a bit.  Rode over to Cdyers house.  BSed for a bit.  Saw his new Gixer.  Rode home.  I didn't make it to Ephrata.  Good day to be out, though.  Did 150 miles or so.

Dandit - next time you post pictures, hit the enter key 2x before you enter the 1st pic's tag and 2x between each following one. Keeps the pics from stretching the board and puts a small bit of space between each shot.

I'm in for June 4. Its on the calendar. I've been meaning to do that for a year now and I'm gonna! I'm not real familiar with the area so I'll need some directions to where to meet up. Looking forward to meeting some people from here. Just have to work on my chicken strips so I'm not too embarassed!!

You can come into Ephrata on rt 322 from the east or west . Just follow the bikes and look for the traffic cops. If you come from the west, the Cloister diner is a safe bet for breakfast. If you come from the east/ rt 222, the truckstop has decent food.  Watch your speed on the highways, cops are waiting. If it's really nice they will have a "bear in the air" for fund raising purposes...er I mean ..public safety, yeah, that's it.Your better off arriving before 9:00, it usually isn't too crowded by then.

dsartwell - Without looking at a map, I think the easiest for you would be to head down through Pottsville (61 via 42, I think?) then to 222 to Reading and pick up I176 to the end in Morgantown.  From there you can pick up 23 to 322 into Ephrata.  I'll be making that trip on my way to Potter Co in a couple weeks.

Like Dandit said, the day is a big fundraiser for the po-po.  Look out.  Great pics, BTW.  Its a shame that Agusta owner won't lean that thing over, though.
