Long Weekend
« on: June 29, 2006, 02:32:05 PM »
Anyone going to be out this weekend?  Weather is looking good.  I'm thinking I'll take Monday off and ride around Rainier.  Cayuse Pass is closed but supposed to open Friday.  If it stays closed it will be Chinook pass and back.  This is usually my wine ride to Yakima but I don't want to go that far this year.  Just a loop around the mountain to Hwy 410, then to Whistlin Jacks on the backside of 410 toward Enumclaw.  If the road is open a side trip up to Sunrise is a must.  Anyone want to join in let me know.

I'll be leaving from "Tacoma" of course.  Hwy 7 south to Alder Lake which then becomes Hwy 706, past Elbe and Ashford.  This goes through the park (riding gets awesome here, if you're one of the first in there's all kinds of deer, etc) It will then hit Cayuse Pass, Hwy 123.  This drops down to Hwy 12 east.  I'll go east to Hwy 410 and go west.  I'll take 410 to the Sunrise detour, then back to Enumclaw .  I like to leave early (around 7am) because Mt Rainier is awesome when you're first in and no one is around.  The weather is supposed to be good and this is an awesome ride when its clear.
