Anyone Wearing Kevlar?
« on: June 22, 2007, 10:00:17 AM »
I have been considering buying a kevlar jacket from MotoPort/CyclePort.

Any experience / recommendations would be appreciated.

Anyone Wearing Kevlar?

I wear Draggin' Jeans and the Draggin' Jacket in summer, and while I've never actually crash tested them they seem sturdy enough, given that there's no armour.

Motoport Kevlar Street Jeans

I have a pair of the Motoport Kevlar Street Jeans. I followed the directions for wearing a pair of my favorite riding jeans, marked the knee caps, while sitting on my bike. The kevlar material is stretchy and seems to breath rather well. I removed the thigh armor, but kept the knee pads in. Very pricey item, but fit is better than most off the rack type of stuff. If you have extras added such as reflective leg stripe and hip armor, as I did, the price goes up significantly. Ordered them in January, so the turn around time was less than three weeks.

No experience hitting the pavement in them (knock on wood) I wear them all the time now using my denim/kevlar Diamond Gusset defender jeans for around town.
