BanditMania Question
« on: October 17, 2005, 09:52:02 PM »
Those of ya'll from the States who have orderd from Bandit Mania before, I need to pick ya'lls brain a bit if ya'll don't mind.  I want to order some stuff from them and need to know how to go about it.  I know on the website it says to email them your info but I really would like to get specifics.  I emailed them this question about 8 or 9 days ago and haven't gotten a reply back.

I know some of ya'll have ordered stuff from them without any worries, but my money is hard earned and I don't really want to send it over the interet without any confirmation or what have you.  Did ya'll place your orders through emails or did ya'll call them.  I wouldn't know the first thing about callng England and don't want to imagine the cost... especialy if I'm put on hold for any amount of time

On another note, does anybody have any shout outs about that dual exhaust they offer... either high or stock height?  I would assume it's just for looks but dam does it look good... in my opinion anyways.  I'm looking to buy the dual headlamps but I've wanted an extra can on there for the last 3 years... just afraid it'll sound somewhat retarded... I have a D&D now on my 1200 and it sounds dam good... but an extra one?...  I guess I should better wait until I'm rich so I can drop $300 or more on looks :bigok:

Here's hoping for that day!  :beers:

Thanks,

Chad

I am not from the States but I ordered some parts from Banditmania and they were delivered here to Australia no sweat.

I gave them a call after sending an email to get some more info on the headlight conversion kit. They were very nice and took my order over the phone and payed with visa there and then.

I would definitely use them again.

Yeah, I've heard over the years that they have really good service.  I'm just a little nervous about letting go of a bit of cash when they haven't emailed me back yet.  Their website says to email them about any questions and I did that... but no reply.  I'll have to try again and see what happens I guess.  I don't really know how to make international calls from a cell phone.

Just dial the country code for the UK (011) then their phone number.

When they answer, tell them it's an international call from the US, and hopefully they don't put you on hold, or if they do, you'll get top priority. That's what I did when I phoned my order to NWS in the UK.

As for the dual can setup, it's not gonna get you any more power and there's the the weight penalty of the extra can & plumbing, so it'll be strictly a "for looks" thing. I haven't heard a B12 with duals, but I can't imagine it would sound retarded... Hayabusas and other inline fours with duals sure don't. The sound should be about the same, just coming from two sources instead of one.

The UK country code is 0044, then omit the initial 0 in the number...

For banditmania you want to dial 0044 1522 871600... I assume it's the same process for dialling from america, I've dialled this way from several countries in Europe.

To call Banditmania from the USA, you need to dial 011 + 44 + 1522 871600.

00 + 44 may work to call the UK from EU, but not from the USA.

:thanks: Great, ya'll are a big help.  As soon as I get paid I'll be placing that order for the headlights.  Hopefully I'll get the instillation done sometime in December.  I don’t have a way to keep the bike up without the front wheel on… which I’m assuming you have take off the front wheel to lower the forks… or the necessary tools to accomplish such a task… my dad does though… plus he has a garage.

One more question… what’s the time difference between here and there?  I know the middle east is 12 hours give or take so I’m guessing the UK is 7 or 8 which means I’ll probably have to make the call at 3 or 4 in the morning.  Fun times!

UK is on GMT+1 until October 30th. After that, they'll be off BST (their version of our DST) and time will be actual GMT. Waco, Texas is GMT-5 right now, and will be -6 once DST ends... so a 6 hour difference.

Well, I did it.  I finallay bought the twin headlight kit.  It should get here in a few weeks.  If I can figure out how to prop the bike up without the front wheel to lower the forks then I'll try to get it on as soon as it gets here.  If I can't figure it out with a few car jacks and a 2X4 then I'll have to wait until the middle of December.  The important part is the order is in and it should be here soon enough.  Just need to figure out where to get the back of my gauges and the bracket to mount them and I'll be in business!

Why do you need to lower the forks? To install the mounting brackets you just take off the top clamp and slide them down the fork tubes.

I heard on here somewhere that it was easier to lower the fork tubes then to take off the top.  Was it not that hard to take off the top?  Right now easier is better and it won't be that easy to lower the forks.  I'll have to take a look at it agian to see what it takes to take off the top.... geeze, I need a manual.... :duh:

Hello!   :duh:   You  know, when you need something, you never remember that you've seen it before.  Thanks for reminding me of that.  I was browsing the website last week (like I do everyday) and saw the manuals on there and thought "Well isn't that a great idea!"  I apparently didn't remember that...  Thanks!

College is supposed to make you smarter... instead it's just eating away my brain!... or it could be the fact that I'm up doing homework at 12:00...
