An interesting read,     On the subject of defoggers, I heard that Cat Crap was the biz, but I've given up trying to find it here locally. Could order it online I suppose.
I've been using Trident mask defogger that I bought in Hawaii for snorkeling, works great on the visor and my glasses. Spray it on, coating the entire surface, then rinse off and let dry.
Each application is good for three or four days.

As a sport diver also myself I have always found hawking big lewgee inside the lenses and rinsing it out works pretty darn good, but I wouldn't recommend it for a bike helmet lenses LOL.

I read somewhere that polishing the visor up using white toothpaste makes a good antifog treatment. I could have used something today, cool, rained last night and the ground is wet, cloudy sky with more rain forcast, needless to say I had to keep the visor cracked a bit.

Motorcyclist (i think) had a writeup about a Respro Foggy Breathguard Mask made in the UK. They said it's the only thing they ever tried that actually worked. Basically a mask worn under the helmet that blocks mouth and nose exhalation off the visor.

I've used Cat Krap and it works pretty well.  I've also used the toothpaste method on the inside of glasses when mountain biking which is OK.  For m/c helmets, I will never again buy a helmet that doesn't come with an anti-fog shield.  The shield on my Scorpion just flat-out won't fog.  Cold rainy days?  No problem.  It's really amazing!

I've been riding pretty much all winter here in CT. Having to crack open the shield at every stop was getting old, fast.

I bought a fogcity shield insert, it went on easy. I'm impressed, so far I cannot make the shield fog up, even if I try. It's nice to keep the shield down and snug in the cold all the time.

When I used to dive (around the time of Mike Nelson) we had two tried and true methods. Lugees and tooth paste. Both required a good rinse out, which is something you don't do with a bike helmet.

Dish soap works well (I use Dawn); just put it on the faceshield and then rub it dry.

The problem with factory applied coatings is that if you touch the inside, or if (as in my case) the shield is shipped alone, and gets bumped and rubbed on the inside, you can't see through it until you clean it all off.   However, they work great otherwise.  So, now I've got a brand new, fog free shield I can't use because the inside was bumped.    Oh, well, I'll just clean it with dawn a couple of times and hope I can get the thing usable.

I'm going to look into the Cat Crap if Sven's experience is good though.  My helmet is vented pretty good, and once the bike gets rolling fog isn't really a problem.  The issue is when I stop at lights, or that time when I'm just getting out of my drive way.
