I'm working on creating a Blue Tooth enabled Helmet....who thinks it's a good idea???

Currently looking at working with Shoei for starters..they seem to have the widest range of helmets along with the largest sales. Plus it targets the crowd with Blue Tooth cellphones.

I would love to have one....what would make it even better is if it had dual speakers in there not only for the cell phone converstaions but for all the MP3 phones that are out there to. I think it would sell like crazy but the only downfall is that it will probally cost an arm and a leg.... you take the average price of shoei and then the bluetooth technology it would be really high. I would also look into AGV and some otehr good cheaper helmets.

I've thought about HJC also as that's what I wear.

2 speakers woudln't be a problem. It would even probably make it easier to hear with the wind in the background.

The only issue I have right now is tryign to find a way to put a volume controller on it. When you're on a bike as you all know, there's no room for zoning out like in a car with a good song.

God knows we're all going to twist the throttle when something sweet comes on!

Technology is simple for Blue Tooth....it's canceling out the wind while you talk that's the problem.

BMW already make a Bluetooth enabled helmet - although it is a bit pricey.

I believe Dick Smith, Tandy, Radio Shack and similar stores also stock the necessary bit and pieces to 'retro' fit an existing helmet with Bluetooth technology...and it's not as pricey as the BMW helmet.

Even thought I answered yes to the question, it's not on top of my 'must buy' list, in fact it's way way down the bottom of the list...

I would be interested if you could get it to work. I have tried 3-4 Bluetooth cell phone head sets and none of them canceled out the background noise like a wired one. At this point I am looking towards something like the Autocom systems. Alittle pricey, but I have heard good reviews so far.

How hard would it be to simply install a noise-cancelling headset? I don't know about making it blue-tooth but that could be a starting point.

I selected "No" for a couple of reasons:
1) When I go riding, I usually can't get a signal because I ride away from the city and the I-5 corridor.
2) I'm trying to get away from those who would call me in the first place.

When I'm out riding the phone is for emergency use. Traffic around central PA is way too !#@%*# up. Plus tourist season is upon us. Head for the hills!!

Amen!! A cell phone is just a tool for people to piss me off or bother me from a distance. I rarely even bring it with me when I go out riding.

OK....I'm noticing that most people saying "no" are from the US..understandable. Especially with the fact that there's so many cell phone companies but you always loose signal. The is certainly not the case in Canada, except if you live somewhere that you're lucky if you get a phone.

The purpose of the helmet was not for just cellphone usage. Most cellphones today have MP3 players built in.

Now wouldn't it be nice if you're riding along and can listen to some tunes...instead of wind and exhaust sounds? a 2-6 hours trip and get very boring....even at 120mph.

I appreciate your responses as all criticism is positive.

I must be from the generation that doesn't go anywhere w/o the phone and a charger....
