I'm kinda new to Bandits but from what people have told me, the bodies are the same in each generation....only exception being the 1200 is always one year ahead in the switchover to the new body style....96 to 97..is that when they switched gen.'s?

The wing Rack is a generic item, the mounting kit is model specific.  Visit <www.giviusa.com> and look up the part number for the mounting kit for each bike to get the most definitive answer.

well, good idea, except i just called em instead..

so the kit for the 96 600 is a y511, and for the 97 1200 it's a y513..

so, some fabrication may be necessary to make it fit.. the only problem i could forsee is if the rear end of the 1200 is WIDER.. then it probably would just plain not fit..

so.. anyone know how different the rear end on a 96 600 is from a 97 1200??

The 1200 changes a year after the 600/650, not ahead.

The 1200 isn't wider, the bodywork is the same - except for colors and decals and 1G B6's and early 2G B6's don't have provisions for a gas gauge in the tank.

The difference in the two is the passenger footpegs. The 1G B6 has them welded to the frame where the 1200's bolt on, so there may be some slight variation in where they sit - or what points the two Givi kits use to attach the hardware.

Thanks, Red!  I was just about to order a taller windshield for my G3 650 and almost screwed up!  That would have been the first time since......1964?  (I think)

so it looks like if i want to mount up this kit to my 1200, i may just have to drill some new holes in the mounting brackets, or bend some stuff, or weld some stuff.. or fabricate new brackets... or break down and pay the $128 for the correct mounting kit..
