Went ahead and ordered a Laminar Lip for my 1250. I have a Powerbronze aftermarket shield, but the lip fit without difficulty. It pretty much does what it says, in noticeably reducing upper body buffeting, particularly at higher speeds. It was a very windy day here, and the lip made for a less turbulent ride, particularly when riding into the wind.
I'd estimate a 50% reduction in wind turbulence and 20% less low frequency wind noise.

I was hoping for a bigger impact on the noise, but oh, well.

Overall, I'd give the lip 3.5 out of 5

You were supposed to say, "Ya, I tried it the way the instructions said, but it works better this way." 

Then months from now, after you've flipped it back and post pictures from a trip, see if anyone calls you on it.
