I don't know, could be good in summer when the locusts are out - nothing like getting smacked in the hand by a locust at 120Km+ to let you know you're still alive......

Someof the guys that live in places that it gets cold, but doesn't snow....have been fitting some sort of Dirtbike handguards.
Look like heck on a street bike, but they do keep your hands a bit warmer, and drier.

Handguards from a V-Strom 1000 will fit the Bandit 1200 2nd generation bikes.

YOu'll need to buy the handguards, new bolts that go through the brake and clutch levers and the screws and nuts that mount the guards to the new bolts.

Altogether the cost is about $80-90 from Ron Ayers. I tried a set on my 2003 naked Bandit 1200 and loved the protection. Had to get rid of them when I installed a windshield that interfeed with them.

Sold them to a friend who had dropped his V-Strom.

Just looked at a new (2005) V-Strom 1000 today and see that the handguards are a bit different in that they attach to the end weights as well as to the clutch and brake lever pivot points.

They might require new end weights -- not sure. One could check the part numbers for everytning to see I suppose.

Nope - that's the last year of the 1Gs. 01-05 bikes (2G) are distiguishable by "bugeyes" headlights on the S model and a straight top frame tube. Here's a pic of an '05

And just to add a little confusion to it all, the B6 went to 2G one year before the B12 (2000) and 2004 is the last year of the B6 in 2G form. The '05 is a 3G and no longer a B6, but a B6.5.

Here is what I use in the colder months, and yes Mick (Aussie Bandit) I should have had them for the redback rally, them bloody locusts did hurt.

I have a set of Hippo Hands from the '70s - worth every penny. Had them on a GL500 Silver Wing, FZ700 and I can't remember if I had them on my first bike, a Yamaha Special II 400 (XS400G, I think was) Suffered through a couple of mishaps, but nothing a little duct tape couldn't mend.

I have recently installed a set of KTM adventure handguard on my 96 B12. I only chose thoses guards because they were free! They are pretty soft plastic so I just bent them into place, it's like they were made for the Bandit - they miss the screen by 5-10mm. You have to remove the bar end weights. They don't look great but my bike is black anyway, so it goes alright.

actually in the us, 2003 is the last year of the B6 2G.

Would someone who has added the V-Strom handguards or even the PowerMadd please post a few pics of them. I'd like to see how those look on the Bandit 1200S.
