Sargent Cycle Products seat re-working-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I dropped my stock '99 b12 seat off at Sargent a week ago, and picked it up yesterday.(of course...longer turnaround time with shipping both ways...)They added 1/2 inch of Atomic foam, overall, and converted the seat into a 'solo' type. The front is 'Griptex', the rear smooth vinyl.The welt is silver.This did widen the seat a hair, and raised the seat height just a hair also. It also kind of precludes carrying a passenger, except for short distances.(Now I'm sure to see hundreds of nubile blonds hitchiking!)The seat is finished nicely, and popped right onto my bike, after I transferred the rubber bumpers.It does really change the look of the bike, really nudging me toward'streetfighterhood'!Sitting on the bike for a couple of minutes, I can tell I have more room, and the foam feels great.(HAd the rise moved back 1 inch)With some saddle time, I'll be able to give a full report on the comfort, but I think I'm going to like it!Sargent builds the seat on your OEM pan, or just tweaks what you've got, if you just want a little customization.My saddle ended up costing $290, but I did have a lot of pricier stuff done. When I took a trip Spring Break to Europe (trust me, it was only because of the killer deal I got on airfare= girlfriend and me=1500 for a week, airfare, hotel, all included!) I saw all kind of cool devices for bikes which I didn't see in the States. (yah, she tought we were going to see the Eiffel Tower! hahaha)I saw this one bra with little rings on it that you could attach a kind of cape or blanket or something. It just dropped over your legs. And I am telling you, the security is crazy! There were little racks everywhere! Heavy steel rails and what not that ran right into the ground. But, where and when did you get it, Pete? I called L-P and they said they don't make them anymore and there are no leftovers in their warehouses. Chaparral still lists it as an active item in their catalogs and on their all-telling computers but the dumb-asses can't get them and don't know it! After ordering it and reordering after they automatically cancelled my order when it didn't come in (without notifying me and also cancelling another back order that was in stock) they still will not call L-P to verify whether or not they can get them saying their computers show them as active. I told 4 different operators what L-P told me and politely asked them to call and verify and they were all indifferent or down-right rude saying that was purchasing's department. I even called customer service but the girl I talked to echoed the same comments using a blatantly annoyed tone. I do like it. The fabric on the edges is getting a little frayed, but otherwise is in good shape.The only CURRENT full tank covers available for Bandits are the K-Drive, and Bagster, which look great, but are a little different.....which you can get from Riderhaus. (Expensive, but either can be used with a special integrated tank bag)The quote I got for a Bagster tank cover was $80, and with the attaching tank bag....around $200.....including shipping from Europe.Check the RiderHaus banner at the bottom........One of the owners rides a bandit.
