Engine swap (400v into 400) frame diffrences
« on: April 14, 2006, 01:43:28 PM »
Does anybody know if there are any diffrences between a 1990 b400 frame and a 97 frame and if the vvt engine will fit in a standard b4 frame

just popped the engine on mine ( dropped valve) but I know where there's a crash damaged vvt and need to know if it will fit

cheers

Andy

Hang on there, im going to have to dissagree with Jay, the VV engines have cam position sensors which will fowl on the frame of a non VV bandit.

there is a hosisontal bar on the frame tha passes next to the head of the engine where these sensors are positioned, on the vv bike this bar is only round in profile on the visible side, I believe on the non vv bike its just a tube.

I have a VV bike and will proberly be able to send you some close up pictures if you need.

have a look on bikepics.com/members/skolviking

I have uploaded a photo of my old frame, you can see the inside profile of the tube i mentioned on the far side of the frame, this cut out is to make clerance for the cam sensors.

Mmmm, looks like i've got some work to do I think i might be best to get the engine and try it up to the frame just to see where i need to cut then i can slice and plate the tube to clear any problems

cheers for the help
