Hot start
« on: October 07, 2012, 09:21:22 PM »
Carbs rebuilt, bike running great, but, it will not start after its warmed up? Once it cools a little it starts right up! What are causes of this annoying situation? What shall I look for?

Thanx

Did a carb sync today, rode bike around 50mi. It is running strong, pulls to 14k smoothly with no flat spots or stumbles. Bike will bump start just fine but will not starter start at all when hot, or even warm for that matter. The starter does churn and churn but it just will not light up? It does backfire on occasion while trying to start.

So, is it voltage? Starter is drawing all the juice and there's nothing left for the plugs? What about coils? They obviously work when cold, and the bike never stalled while running so they work while running also. It just will not start with starter unless its stone cold! grrr

What grade plugs you got in it and how old are they? 9's can cause hot starting problems.
When you say starts cold is this with or without choke.

They are ngk 9's, and not new plugs. I did go shoppin for 8's but I'm gunna have to order them.

Full choke cold start but have to immediately move it after start up to maby a 1/4 or it will rev too high.
