Michelin Pilot Powers are my new best friend
« on: May 10, 2006, 12:32:33 AM »
I just had a set of Michelin Pilots Powers installed (thanks Gary) and they're fantastic tires. I couldn't sleep last night after going for a spirited ride on them.

Oh damn you, Mike!  I've got a set out in the garage.  I was going to wait until after my 5/22 track day to put them on.  Got lots of meat left on my M1s.  I just don't like them that much.  I'll probably have to get them swapped...  Damn you!

(Anybody want some M1s cheap?  PM me!)

Sorry, but I had to share.

I'd switch them before going to the track. You've had those M1's on for a while. M1's are a good tire too, but for going to the track I'd prefer the Michelins.

I'm waiting to hear some reviews on Metzlers M3 sportec.

The M1s have been on a while but unfortunately, don't have many miles on them.  I haven't ridden much at all since I put them on - just one track day and a few commutes.  They must have <2K miles on them.  If I put on the Powers, I'm going to need to get 3 TDs out  of them.  I won't be able to afford new hoops until after my July days.  The M1s have the same mission as the Powers.  They just don't execute it as well.  I may be getting an extra set of wheels.  If I do, I'll run the M1s on the street.

The M3s crack me up.  They look nearly identical to the Powers.  If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, I guess.

Wait till you try Pirelli Supercorsa  I've had 3 sets of MPP before a set of Supercorsa Pro SC1. Now the MPP's are kiddy stuff :bigok:

Three days at the track will be fine for those tires. Our little 400s don't have the tire ripping power of the 600s. I'll bet you could get four trackdays out of them without any problem. Then you can use the middle of the tire for the street.

I'm going to give the Dunlop Radial KR108 a go this season at the track.

You are very welcome Mike. Get good use out of those Pilots.

I'm loving them. I can't remember the last time I took the bike out three nights in a row.

Be sure to post some pictures once you get the numbers on the bike.

I ended up putting another 8k onto those used tires and they're still on the bike. The back one is pretty much finished and isn't liking the rain anymore, but I got great tire life out of 'em. Can't wait to put the new set on next year!

WOW! You certainly got your money out of those scrubs.
You will get a lot of mileage out of the new ones.
