Electrical system smoke !!!
« on: December 17, 2006, 11:03:29 PM »
Until the past few days i have had almost 2 months of trouble free riding ,a record since owning the B4 but i love it..haha.
2 months ago installed new battery & starter solenoid ,charging voltage was 13.5 volts from memory but the last few mornings the starter is reluctant to turn over,i can hear the solenoid clicking but nothing after several tries the starter will usually kick in & start no problems.
This morning the indicator lamps didnt even come on,,no solenoid clicking then i noticed smoke coming from under the seat.... the positive battery terminal was smoking & the cable very hot !!.
Connections are clean & dry...usual weather temp here is about 25 c in the mornings.
Sounds like a simple electrical connecction problem or something more sinister?
